Re: SUGGESTION - Medievac helicopter
In times past.. The Medvac helicopter has had a heal feature that healed the players inside of it.. This is how it was used and setup in EoD. Also in EoD it would drop medic bags. Here in PR:V it does not have that feature, at least, not right now.
At one point, in EoD2 I toyed with giving it the ability to "revive" players. I actually had it so that if you hovered over a dead teammate and right-clicked as the co-pilot. You could revive a downed soldier. Was really kind of cool, but then, the downside was the guys testing it, started to use it to kill the enemy team. Therefore, I took that feature away, but maybe I will reconsider it again. Only see if we can make it revive on a team only basis.
For now, how it is setup in PR:V.. For those riders inside.. You get a slow heal about as fast as the current med pack heals a soldier.
Would or could it be used for transport. Sure it could and probably will be, but hopefully, whomever is flying it, would not be running right into hostile gunfire.

If your medic dies (and your unable to get to him, or cant find his body) and your SL used his RP and didnt get it reloaded (this happens ALOT Ive noticed) and you have some guys who are bleeding out this would be a good time to have a medi-vac huey flying over the battle feild.

If it's possible maybe make it so that the Medevac huey heals people extremely slowly, just enough to keep them alive, so when you drop them off somewhere they will still bleed (bleeding and the slow healing will keep the player "balanced" during the ride to the Healing tent at main base).

Re: SUGGESTION - Medievac helicopter
Does it heal the pilot as well? Because if it does, he, or she, becomes pretty much invincible, and I doubt they were able to heal the pilots while in mid-air...[R-DEV]TrahnLee wrote:For now, how it is setup in PR:V.. Re: SUGGESTION - Medievac helicopter
I think if it heals slowly (but fast enough to stop a bleed), it should give a pilot a reason big enough to take off and fly around for a while, so the medevac chopper doesn't become a "quick stop and heal you in 10 seconds" thing
.

Ooo being a medic helo pilot sounds like something im going to do, id love to see some kind of system where like you set up a place for wounded to go and then the medic helo evacuates them and brings them back.
Don't really know how the system would work but i bet the DEVs are working on it. Can't wait for the game

I think a decent implementation would be, not to have the vehicle to heal you but stabilizes you (prevents you from bleeding) whilst your inside so you cant bleed out, then back at main having a healing station that actually heals.

Re: SUGGESTION - Medievac helicopter
You'd just AT them down. And it was never so that you could kill pilots in their airplane or heli cockpit.HeXeY wrote:Does it heal the pilot as well? Because if it does, he, or she, becomes pretty much invincible, and I doubt they were able to heal the pilots while in mid-air...
A bigger problem is the earlier mentioned rol of the heli. I think there were 4 kinds of maps in BF:V, the tank map (Landing Zone Albany), the jet map (Operation Flame Dart), the infantry map (Quang Tri - 1968 ) and the PT map (Operation Game Warden). The medic heli's are pretty useless in the tank and jet map, but they are of use in the infantry and PT maps.
For the PT map I already said what I thought would be a good idea for the PT's. But you still have the infantrymen in the PT maps. The best solution would be to remove roads and not giving tanks or cars. Then you would have a huge jungle with a few places where heli's can land (for the landing spots something like in "The La Drang Valley") . Here's a clip to clarify:
YouTube - Vietnam War Combat Assault Footage Easter Sunday 1971
Smoke nades could play a roll in giving the pilot directions of where to go pick up people.
I think if you do this (removing roads, making moving by foot from the camp to the CP impractical and making moving with tanks and cars impossible) there will be a need for helis and there would be a constant stream of helis from and to the camp.
The VC could have tunnles as way to move quickly and they could have the replacable spawning point.

I have been hurt as a pilot several times, I've seen others hurt several times, and I've experienced me, as the pilot, or others to be shot out of the heli. I have taken control of the heli once to keep it steady till we crashlanded so we could get out safely because the pilot was shot out.
Just saying
And it ain't that easy to hit a chopper with an AT unless they're up close, or you're over average experienced with the AT

someone was talking about the pilots of the medivac, as you can see the pilots shouldn't be invincible even if the chopper can heal. Maybe you could make it so the chopper needs atleast 1 medic onboard to have the healing ability

Damn so I just never succeeded in killing those pilots. Well that crappy to know.HeXeY wrote:Orly?

Edit: We are both talking about shooting pilots in Battlefield Vietnam right? Because I just shot 3 rounds at a pilot whilst standing next to the heli and he ain't dead.

Re: SUGGESTION - Medievac helicopter
i am all for this type of gameplay if possible within the BF2 engine ...bloodthirsty_viking wrote:mabey you could not get healed on the feild, and all a medic bag would do is to stop the bleeding.
To fully heal, you would have to go to the medic tent at main- and the medic helo is probbably faster then the others (just for gameplay- make it the choice if your extracting) and have the gunships covering you..
i could see some epic fights to get a squad out of the hot zone with one medic helo and a few gunships above =P
the field medic should be able to revive and stop bleeding .. but the critically wounded (those that had been revived) should not be able to pickup a kit or at least have 10% aiming ability .. or something along those lines .. until they are picked up by a medical vehicle .. this will then transport them to the HQ where they can be healed up and return to battle with full kits ..
this would make the gameplay intense when fighting to get the downed soldiers back to base , squads would move in to secure evac zones etc .. the value of tickets would have to relate to this though so the teamwork would be in place..
this could work the exact same for the NVA etc .. all they might need is a medical transport truck or something.

"I think a decent implementation would be, not to have the vehicle to heal you but stabilizes you (prevents you from bleeding) whilst your inside so you cant bleed out, then back at main having a healing station that actually heals." That is a very good idea, what i would like is the healing heli picks them up, keeping them alive. then drops them at a tent where they can heal. a medic heal could be plausible too. but longer than 10 seconds. Another idea is it could drop a medkit to a sqaud under fire, maybe a quick fly by?
