Me and my friend were talking about this before. Because surrendering means you are 'captured' and become a prisoner, you don't actually die. So if you surrender and are shot, then it won't count as a 'death' on your counter.

Exactly... and this should also mean your side doesn't lose a ticket. This will add a new dimension to gameplay, where a surrounded squad in a building can be captured and removed from the map, but they don't lose tickets and don't get a time penalty.kanonator wrote:Me and my friend were talking about this before. Maybe instead of being able to walk free after surrendering, they can be arrested and immediately returned to main base to rejoin the game?

Re: Whats the rule on killing unarmed combatants
Just now I was playing a game on Basrah and helped my squad out by spotting stuff from a rooftop.
Suddenly a tank came rolling in and instantly shot me and I got the message:
"You were killed for helping the insurgents". Even though I only used the binocs.
I respawned and went to the roof again and again the tank shot me, and again the message that I was helping insurgents appeared.
What did I do wrong?

Thats where shooting them in the leg would come in handy, if only it would work instead of killing them

More informations! Was that just after respawn? My first guess would go for that.NyteMyre wrote:Just now I was playing a game on Basrah and helped my squad out by spotting stuff from a rooftop.

IIRC the cooldown on the resuscitate tool/Epipen is 2 minutes.NyteMyre wrote:Just now I was playing a game on Basrah and helped my squad out by spotting stuff from a rooftop.

Are you 100% sure that you didn't open up those items at all? Even scrolling through and clicking it for 1 second will make you free game. Heeps of civis forget this, often making them free game.

In my point, some people who go unarmed should have like intelligence on them, and if the enemy force decides to shoot you, they can never get it. That would hop up for some interesting game play imho.
Its like with civilian's how they don't shoot and come up to arrest you. and maybe the intelligence could be droppable like a patch.

That means that Collaborators can easily assist coalition forces intentionally, and would encourage dirty play, where a 'mole' could run intelligence back and forth to the US. Then the INS would have to start teamkilling to prevent such loses, making things rather complex.BIGsmalll wrote:In my point, some people who go unarmed should have like intelligence on them, and if the enemy force decides to shoot you, they can never get it. Re: Whats the rule on killing unarmed combatants
personally i think that unarmed combatants should be able to enter the passenger seats of enemy vehicles. Thereby giving the enemy the ability to kidnap you.
I also think that if you go unarmed you should not show up on your friendlies map.
Also it should be made that you cannot tell where you are. (that would have to be enforced by the admins).
I too am for kidnapping enemy players, however being that I cannot currently do anything with them, the only option is to kill them. After a little dramatic acting with them!
Maybe make it that an enemy player cannot get in the vehicles passenger seat until a player of the kidnapping squad hops in, if he hops out than the hostage would have to get out or bleed out.
This would prevent the hostage from taking safety in the captors vehicle without a way to kill the him.
Also taking an unarmed combatant should give intel on the nearest enemy FOB location, or near, like a cache.

Re: Whats the rule on killing unarmed combatants
Hmm well even though the topic has gone off a bit, i think that if you were to implement a surrender system it would have to be done in a certain way to stop people abusing it.
so you would have to change the scoring system, if you die then you lose 2 tickets if you surrender and get caught you lose 1 ticket. The balance then for that would be time, you die then you have a quicker respawn, you get caught while surrendering you have a longer respawn.
if you surrender then you cant move for a minute maybe 2 from your spot(scripted), after this time is up you can then progress back to base re-kit and re-stock, without any kit penealties for picking up kits. of topic i know but i just want my idea thrown in
EDIT
forgot to mention that if you dont get caught then you dont lose any tickets, but until you pickup another kit you are still catchable.

Woah. Didn't expect the thread to go this long but I like the ideas coming out.
In all cases, I was just looking for something that that will penalize the player who killed a unarmmed combatant, POW or a civilian. Much like friendly firing your own team mate those in PR. Its as easy as that. I can understand that most player would like to roleplay the situations while others just dont care so much. I like the idea of not being able to pick up any weapons after giving up. There should be a radius of about, lets say 200m, where there is no enemy around you to be able to pick up a kit again or work your way back to the FOB or main.
imo i like the option of giving up if the fight is at a lose. better than losing tickets i supose.

Yes. After spawn you have to wait 1 min. Same waiting time goes for resuscitate and epipen.NyteMyre wrote:1st time no, but 2nd and 3rd time yes....
