This video is from a Sea Knight not a Chin... In my Naval Science class we talked about this video. They are are boarding with an IBS. And the Sea Knight has its rotors going it is not afloat.Sgt.Smeg wrote:Was the Chinook really needed? We already had the Merlin but nobody complained at the idea of the Chinook knowing that it could still only carry 8 players...
The point is that, as you can see, it's realistic.
It's like saying, why bother making the VN3 float... was that needed? No. Is it realistic, yes.
If the Chinook was given this capability, it adds more scenario possibilities, meaning that players and mappers can do more with the Chinook.
If it can be done, why not?
I believe this has been suggested before though.

Crappy quality but it looks to bold for a Sea Knight.USMCMIDN wrote:This video is from a Sea Knight not a Chin... In my Naval Science class we talked about this video. They are are boarding with an IBS. And the Sea Knight has its rotors going it is not afloat.

Not really, the 2 crates thing is helpful though.Sgt.Smeg wrote:Was the Chinook really needed? We already had the Merlin but nobody complained at the idea of the Chinook knowing that it could still only carry 8 players...
Yes it is realistic, your perfectly right. But is it practical? No.The point is that, as you can see, it's realistic.
Its not like that at all. The VN3 is specifically an amphibious APC, and was perfect for maps like Barracuda and for river crossings on Qwai. It's like saying, why bother making the VN3 float... was that needed? No. Is it realistic, yes.
The Chinook's ability to pick up Zodiacs and whatnot seems to be specifically for special forces use. PR isn't taking into account factions' special forces, and hopefully it never will.
Ok, how about this, if a mapmaker wants to have a map which, for some reason, has special forces elements in it, this can be coded in. For now however, if it was added it would NEVER be used, unless for some reason a pilot went down in Qinling Lake and needed a pickup, which happens on how many occasions? If the Chinook was given this capability, it adds more scenario possibilities, meaning that players and mappers can do more with the Chinook.
Because its ability for water landings has no application in PR's current incarnation. If it can be done, why not?![]()

obviously you would have to land properly or face damage.

Shove zodiacs in the chinook... SORTED
nahhh, its a nice idea but I reckon it would need a map where the ability to float could be used realistically. But then again if they can do it IRL why not!?
