Taking Hostages
Yes yes, I'm sure this has been posted to an extent, however I think that I am adding something new and original, if not, delete.
So being that now we can go unarmed, hands up and hands behind the head, why not make it a little better by
Add the ability to have the unarmed combatant capable of entering PASSENGER SEATS of enemy vehicles, including trans helis.
Make it so that the hostage can only enter if one of the captors is also in the vehicle. (prevents hostage from taking safe refuge when he needs to get out to be executed or transferred to a building)
If he tries to stay in alone, he will bleed out.
Once he enters an enemy vehicle, his screen will go pretty much black or just real fuzzy as if he had a hood over his head. Lacking the ability to make out buildings, streets or landmarks.
When a player goes unarmed, he disappears off his teams map, slightly preventing the enemy from knowing his exact location.
Hopefully admins would encourage the hostage to NOT give intel on his location via chat or voip.
Make it so that a hostage will provide intel to an extent on FOB locations, cache locations, and such until he is rescued (gets in friendly vehicle or somehow confirms rescue), there by stopping the intel point count.
If the enemy TK's the hostage accidentally than the tk'r would get his points set to zero.

Re: Taking Hostages
Sounds hardcoded.
Insurgents should be able to take blufor as hostage, taking away intel.
Sort of taking them hostage to execute them, in a way those soldiers might have important info they never were able to give up.

I think most people will actually fight to the death.

Agreed.
If an insurgent team captures BluFor, it reduces blufor intel points (if not ceases them) by some dramatic number.

Vehicles can only be coded for one team or both, not one and selected members of the other. Additionally, to do this it would mean that unoccupied vehicles would be visible on the map like in BF2, if I recall correctly.
An interesting idea, but sadly impossible.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Oh gosh dangit!!!
I finally come up with something brilliant! and it cant be done. Go figure.
This is still not as good as my Canine patrol kit I asked for a couple of years ago.
Well thanks for taking the time to look at it an give me the input.

Re: Taking Hostages
Love the idea,
suggestion for simple coding:
Instead of letting the "hostage" inside nme vehicle, Why not just make him talk, willingly or not.
What I mean by that is that once a nme combatant drops weapons and puts his hands up, why not just let all the bluefor infantry around him (5-10m), detect his friendly troops in say a 100m radius. The unarmed hands up guy becomes a uav scan for the blufor map.
Bluefor will love this has this will help detect civilian ambushes and hidden window shooters.
Now if this is incorporated in-game, The INS will need a way of making hostages as well, Perhaps one class could, instead of the knife, get a AK buttsock hit thats renders the soldier unconscious, not wounded, but unarmed and bleeding. The buttsock or a tight clips handcuff like blurfor. Once the bluefor soldier is arrested, he must stay alive by staying close to his captors, or else he looses alot of intel and tickets.
Maybe, now just bare with me on this, The hostage could become like a cache, giving bluefor 10-20 points from the cache count if they rescue the hostage. Now this would be totally realistic I think and good for team momentum on both sides.
p.s: Is it possible for the bf2 engine to make some kind of hl2 move where you pick up objects or people and drag them along with you? Man can you imagine being able to build your own barricade with boxes and static hl2 style...

okay,so you can make all factions enter all seats again, both enemy and friendly, now take the aircraft and armor code for requiring kit,and only allow players with the kits US kits to drive in US vehicles,if an enemy enters the drivers seat he will get the leave or die
message.
Would that work, since each faction has its specific kit right, and not just a general "pilot" to fly al chopper with,or something along those lines.

Oh yeah. A specialty kit that has a canine that can be sent to attack. Basically, you see an enemy, fire, dog runs and attacks. Or dog barks when about 25-50m from cache.
It would most likely only be used on insurgency modes being that we actually use canines to find weapons caches irl.
But yes. Johnny, I like the idea.
I wish we could get something set up to work for hostage taking.
I mean if we can put our hands up AND behind the head, why not right?

Im by no means an expert on this, but imo.supahpingi wrote:okay,so you can make all factions enter all seats again, both enemy and friendly, now take the aircraft and armor code for requiring kit,and only allow players with the kits US kits to drive in US vehicles,if an enemy enters the drivers seat he will get the leave or die

I think if you made everyone capable of entering vehicles (even if a proper team kit is needed) the vehicles would show up on both teams maps.
You'd see U.S. vehicles as an insurgent and insurgent vehicles as U.S.
Or whatever team layout would be.
The result seems like it would be that you'd basically be able to see ALL vehicles on the map no matter what team. Pretty good idea though.
There must be a hard code genius work arounder out there, or is that what the PR team already is. I'm pretty sure they already are and I am deeply grateful of all your work!.
Now make it work.
