Re-supply from Enemy Crates

Post by alberto_di_gio »

I know using enemy supplies for re-supplying discussed several times. I read the older threads about but couldn't find detailed reasoning so I have two question, for my own understanding, if you excuse me and one suggestion :)

I really want to understand those:
  • *Can't re-supply ammo - Ok agreed.. because every gun/army uses different ammo type this may not possible. Then what about if I have an enemy kit on me? Then I should able to resupply it from enemy supply where actually it belongs at the beginning.
  • Can't take enemy kits - I think I read a reasoning something like "because you are not proficient with the enemy weapons. Ok.. not unlogical. Then how come I can use them when I found them on ground?
On the other hand my only suggestion is to free re-supplying "Field Dressings" from enemy supply crates or ammo boxes. As far as I search on net Field Dressings (Battle Dressings) are very basic medical supplies used for most wounds and can be used by every soldier who has basic battle training.

All or nothing deal. Either you can resupply all ammo from enemy crates, or not.

i´m for all then. Why not resupply @ e crates? I read the post but have to say the most army´s use the same standard rounds(5.56 /.50 cal). And crates are mostly were a fb is. So imo you have to save this location including the crates.

5.56 is a standard nato round, but most OPFOR in game dont use it (MEC 7.62, PLA 5.8 , INS mostly 7.62 etc)

Yup. Every weapon is given a rearm value - how many ammo points it takes to reload a magazine, for example. Field dressings, grenades, rifles - all are reloaded from the same ammo point system. So if you could rearm your field dressings from an enemy crate, you could also rearm your 7.62 AK-47 even though the crate would/should contain 5.56.

To all intents and purposes; hardcoded :(

Hey,

I started a thread about this last year, it's here: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr ... ate-3.html

It annoys me that (playing as US) I can't reload my US rifle at a MEC crate but I can reload a found MEC rifle at a US crate. It's just inconsistent, and I while I understand that the engine limits how we can use crates, it doesn't prevent us from going back to universal supply from crates. This is a system that used to be in place and I honestly have yet to hear a single convincing argument for keeping the current system over it.

It may not be common practice for Blufor troops to use opfor guns and ammo, and why would it be, having trained with a certain weapon I'm fairly sure I'd want to keep using it in a life or death situation. However, if I was out of ammo in a hairy situation, I would pick up a G3 and use it.

So while i recognise that different factions use different ammo types, the current system falls foul of this anyway, and it would be be more "realistic" (in that it simulates using whatever you have to hand in order to stay alive, rather than just sitting there lemon like with an empty m16 next to a crate full of enemy guns and ammo).

Also, supplies are important in PR, they should be treated as such, and if found by the enemy there should be consequences.

Well understood. Unfortunate that you DEV's hands are so tied up on such a hardcoded issue. :(
