Will the battle sights "sight-in" faster than the scope? In the video it seams that they take the same amount of time.
Also is there a way to enable sprint while scoped in with the battle sights? You wouldn't be able to shoot while running, but as soon as you stopped, the sights would automatically come up.
Anyways, great work on this stuff it looks orgasmic.

Yeah I added a 3rd commo rose.Animal.Mother wrote:however he shows both Q and T commo roses in it, or i'm pretty sure he did
It was kinda bugged, so I removed it. I guess I could fix it if I wanted to, but i figured it's not even worth the trouble. It's harder to use and it offers no real advantage over the range selection method. Even if it got implemented people would still not use it because it's just so impractical.Animal.Mother wrote:what happened to the 'free-range' option on the UGL though?
I don't know if it's possible or not, but even if it is, I still don't think backup sights should sight-in faster.RELEASE_THE_KRAKEN wrote:Will the battle sights "sight-in" faster than the scope? In the video it seams that they take the same amount of time.

Re: Mosquill has done it again
I'm not sure why most people seem worried about being surprised in battle and needing to switch to irons and getting shot.
I don't know about you, but whenever I play I always leave my fire-mode to either Burst or Full Auto for just such an emergency and then switch to single for long range targets.
So it will be the same with this new sight mechanic, just leave it to "battle sights" and only when you need range you switch to scope.
As for the Deviation Indicator it's fantastic...but not for basic rifles. Personally I believe it should be for deployed LMG/Marksman, Sniper and Grenadier sights ONLY as those are the only ones that really need you to b sure your shot counts.

Looks amazing.
I've also seen some of your older videos, things like sniper deviation and scope adjustments, and Bradley stabilization. The videos are pretty old, but why have none of those ever been implemented into any releases?

Some are working on the 2142 engine (like the sniper deviation for example). IIRC the lack of stabilisation may be because there is no vertical stabilisation, and it not working as well when you have a separate driver and gunner. The 3d hud also is working on the 2142 engine.Coolio wrote:Looks amazing.

Most of those videos were recorded in BF2142. Basically, 2142 has 3 advantages over bf2: working stabilizers, sway component and no tracer bug.Coolio wrote:Looks amazing.

Devs don't want to implement ballistics because of the tracer bug, so there's no point in having adjustable scopes.
Stabilizers for bf2 are WIP, but at this point it's uncertain whether they'll ever be in PR or not.
TrackIR/freetrack support and 3D HUDs are being worked on, though don't expect them any time soon.

Huh, I didn't know you were a Dev. In that case, I have a awful lot of questions to ask you.

When people talk of hardcoding, they talk of Mos-coding. In otherwords it's something so potent that no one can do anything without breaking the engine. Luckily, Mosquill is the engine

Ditto, I have a feeling that Chuc is slowly, but steadily losing his status of "demigod" here...McLuv wrote:When people talk of hardcoding, they talk of Mos-coding. In otherwords it's something so potent that no one can do anything without breaking the engine. Luckily, Mosquill is the engine![]()

looks awsome but what if you had a odd range to target, like maybe 135? how would you use it? would you aim lower or higher?

Re: Mosquill has done it again
Yup you just look at the sights an move it slightly up for targets above the chosen range, and down for targets slighty below the chosen range. Remeber it's like that for a reason.Conman51 wrote:looks awsome but what if you had a odd range to target, like maybe 135? how would you use it? would you aim lower or higher?
If you could perfectly set your sight's for any distance the game would loose that realistic feel. This was players can at least ensure that their grenade will be in the general area of the target...but not completely zeroed in on that exact position.

Re: Mosquill has done it again
Yes, you'd aim higher or lower depending on what range you were set to. Say you are set to shoot 150 meters and you see a target at 170 meters. You would have to raise up your sights a bit to give it a bit more elevation to travel the extra 20 meters. And, I dont remember how it was in his video, but if you have the tick marks to reference the aim difference between say each 50 meters increment, then you know to aim up a bit less than half of that to get the 20 meters range addition you need.Conman51 wrote:looks awsome but what if you had a odd range to target, like maybe 135? how would you use it? would you aim lower or higher?
Not quite sure what specifically you were asking though. I read it as you were confused if you would aim up or down for longer or shorter ranges...

But he is in the PR Team, so are you saying he owned himself?
