PR .91 Patch problem "This setup requires Project Reality 0909"

Post by dusty32 »

Hey,

I'm trying to patch PR from 0909 to 0917 and this keeps popping up right after the setup downloads the framework:

"This setup requires Project Reality 0909"

I am using Steam and PR has always worked for me - until now that is. Any help would be appreciated.

Try reinstalling 0909, then install the 0917 patch.

The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

I didn't keep the files. Looks like I'm just going to have to download the full version of .91.

Start -> Run -> "regedit"

Browse to:

32bit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Black Sand Studios\Project Reality

64bit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Black Sand Studios\Project Reality

Modify the string "Version" to be "Full 0909".

You should not be getting this issue unless you've been messing with your registry.

I don't see a "Black Sand Studios" folder in there.

Yeah, shouldn't do that, you should always use the provided installers. This goes for pretty much every program as well...

If you don't that folder structure, create it manually...

It can also occur if you uninstalled a previous version of PR, AFTER you installed PR v0.9, which is also a no no.

I had this issue and I haven't messed with my registry, adding that string value resolved it though.

Begs the question, why wasn't that string in my registry in the first place?

Really? Nobody wants to help me? Augh, guess I can't play PR anymore.

Nevermind, sorry. I found the problem, my dumbass brother uninstalled random components to make it unplayable. I'll have to reinstall the whole game. Sorry for wasting your time.

I know this thread is very old, however I came across it due to experiencing a similar issue whilst trying to install the recent PR map pack. Anyway, just incase anyone finds this thread and has these problems, the regedit folder is under Project Reality, not black sand studios. Not sure if this is a recent change or whatever, but that's what it was under in my registry.

Hope this helps.
