Currently, all U.S. factions (except medics and non-scoped Grenadier, as far as I know) have aimpoints instead of ironsights.
Which makes it a little bit imbalanced because all other factions (except the Canadian faction, which has all magnified optics) will have to endure the, though greatly improved ever since the release of .09, more obstructed sight picture of ironsights (expecially the AKs, the gun is reliable and awesome, but the site is certainly nothing to write home about).
Instead of that, why not give ALL faction non-magnified optics on their "scopeless" kits?
AFAIK, atleast the AK74MN (PK-A or something mounted on side rail) have non-magnified optics for use.
Chinese QBZ-95 should also have a non-magnified optics, though I will need to confirm that when I get back to China this summer and take a few pictures.
Just asking if this is possible, and why every faction except U.S. and Canadians had to use ironsights.

Re: Non-magnified optics
One of the reasons why the those two fractions have red dots or more scopes, is due to every soldier having one and iron sight are quite rare. However the same is not true for Russia especially, where iron sights are still very prelavent and scopes are more seldomly seen compaired to US and Canadian Forces

I made this pic ago comparing the two, its a bit hard to follow but you have to concentrate to see each sight picture.

I believe that the irons are MUCH better than the aimpoint. And these are the US irons, not the QBZ and SA80 ones which are terrific, thin, with a wide area around the central post for decent peripheral vision.
And whats wrong with the AK ones? They have HUGE areas around for good situational awareness.
With respect, I think you'll find that you are one of few on the subject of irons v scopes.

Re: Non-magnified optics
If anything I think they should add a zoom for ironsights because the game is really unrealistic. Targets have to be around 100-150 meters for you to have an effective chance against them with iron sights. You should have a chance to hit a target at 300 meters. Yet in the game hitting a 300 meter target with the iron sights is laughable. I myself fire m-16s with regularity and it's not easy task, but still very possible to hit a 300 meter target. Yet may I still stress hitting them is very hard on iron sights.

It's very possible to hit a target at 300 meters with iron sights. You should increase your screen resolution, lower your mouse sensitivity or something like that if you're having problems with it.

In my experience most infantry engagements in game occur at distances far less than 300m. Personally I think the iron sights are great esp. for FIBUA and clearing buildings.archerfenris wrote:If anything I think they should add a zoom for ironsights because the game is really unrealistic. Hitting a human-sized target at 300m with using the iron sights on an M4 is quite hard IRL (personal experience) and in game it's not really a possibility but adding a zoom to iron sights would IMHO detract from their usefulness in urban combat.
