Yes. The current soundtrack completely destroyed the atmosphere but the storylines should be able to bring back that feeling.

Voted yes, but at the same time no.

Cause I like briefings, it makes me feel like there is a reason we're going in.

But then it makes it so people can't make their own scenarios.. > >

but yes... briefings make me feel like there is a point to it. XD I don't know why but it does...

What about making the briefings so not detailed, and rather just a quick introduction to the war surrounding the specific battle.

I want a reason why we are fighting this battle, but I do not need an entire back story to go with it. Something like, "Militia Arms Dealer are smuggling arms into the area, the British need to intercept it."

Yes. I like to have an background story. Plus I do check the asset list of the maps.

Also... what is the meaning of creating your own scenarios. I don't really know if those really effect people's game play but I think its more logical if everyone stick on the same story.

Sq Leader: Ok guys. Lets move. We have to clear that silo and take control of the dirty nukes
Sq Member1: What nukes Captain? I though we'll gonna destroy the enemy supplies?
Sq Member2: You're all wrong. We'll have their HQ plans there.
Sq Member3: You meant the Death Star plans I guess.

including some battalion names would be nice for the immersion too, it all adds to the flavor.

"mec 6th armored battalion is blocking the way for the 55th American Mechanized, forces look set to clash at the bunker complex in the Kashan desert and surrounding villages"

IMO adding background story is simply more trouble than it's worth. It'll be extremely difficult to come up with realistic or even logical story to explain what the hell is going on in every single map and make them tie together. Besides, the briefings that we had before (other than the one for al basara) were vague and left much to the imagination of the player anyways

Can't.....stop.....laughing....

Anyway, there used to be stories for each map in the old loading screen. Can't really say I miss them

well... it may be hard but you know what they say... "The Devil is in The Details" As I said I'm really not sure how much it effects game play but for sure it gives some mood and reality to the game.

It's just a waste of time and space that causes continuity issues and makes some people go all 'herp a derp'.

It's fine the way it is. RPing should be kept to the forums.

background stories just limit what you can do in the map, I prefer a more freeform - "just defeat the enemy" situation.

Saying that, we did spend a whole round of Korengal in as if it was Lord of the Rings, we went in the mines of moria, crossed the anduin river, slayed many orcs. At one point in the mines of moria we were on a 50cal yelling "YOOOOOOU SHALL NOT PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASS!"

Was hilarious.

take ochamchira as an excample templars, I do like that map but people complain all the time that its only the factory.

the story is that the British are defending the factory against a militia assault.

People didn't like that story, so why would they want stories on other maps?

Best to just give people a map and let them figure out the best strategies

I really agree with Bounty on this one: Put in the descriptions but leave them basic and not too pinpoint on everything. And as was suggested earlier also, putting in the battalion/division names would be fun. Would make it all the more interesting if you had actually served in that real battalion, eh?

I miss the old briefings, like on Road to Kyon- "Our allies retrograde actions have left the enemy vulnerable blah blah high capacity crossing over the river, blah blah."

Loved it.

I could probably write something respectable if there was interest.
