Unconventional matchups
Idea
Militia vs Insurgents
and other unconventional matchups.
Historical precedence: Taliban vs Northern Coalition; various African factions fighting one another. It happens; in a country where a primary power can not easily deploy heavy land forces too (or they want to destabilize a region) it often happens that enemies of your enemy become your friends. The Mujahadeen was propped up by the US; after the Afghanistan War the various factions fought each other quite violently until the Taliban was able to come around and wipe out the rest, and even then the Northern Coalition held on for years. And in Iraq, Sunni and Shiite militias and insurgents clash/ed frequently.
It would be an interesting change from the usual, and an experiment worth testing IMHO.

Expanding on idea: Both teams have caches.
Further expanding on idea: Korrengal.

the northern alliance vs taliban sounds interesting, you'd have to give the talib fighters black turbans or something to identify them though

Wouldn't it be nice to have some mix into the game? We already have nametags at over 300m range! Let's get target identifying and map (GPS) use more importance![R-CON]Rudd wrote:the northern alliance vs taliban sounds interesting, you'd have to give the talib fighters black turbans or something to identify them though

Would be nice, maybe simply use Hamas as a placeholder versus the Taliban. Could be a very cool matchup.[R-CON]Rudd wrote:the northern alliance vs taliban sounds interesting, you'd have to give the talib fighters black turbans or something to identify them though

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

Would be cool to see a Xe(Blackwater USA) faction in Falljuah or somewhere. Sunni vs. Shiite sounds really really cool to me. Throw Kurds in there too..
Steam?
Pissed about BF3 not having mod tools, also?

Re: Unconventional matchups
The African Resistance Fighters (or.. whatever the african faction is) would be neat to have vs some other african faction. Unconventional vs Unconventional would be epic.

Re: Unconventional matchups
Xe(Blackwater USA) has been basically.......exiled from Iraq. The US cancelled their contract to operate in Iraq. So Xe really doesn't have any work inside Iraq or Afghanistan (someone quote me on the Afghanistan, but I've never heard of them having contracts there).boom50cal wrote:Would be cool to see a Xe(Blackwater USA) faction in Falljuah or somewhere. Re: Unconventional matchups
Just adding to the general agreement here, Insurgent v. Insurgent would be ridiculously awesome.
