Depends..infantry or armor? I like open better for infantry, lots of fun on maps like Kashan running from South Bunkers to South Village even though it takes like 5 minutes :)

How is it fun running in the hot desert for 2km? It's wide open and you could get killed by snipers, tanks, IFVs, attack helicopters, and jets all at the same time, let alone boring.

Open terrain is better for vehicles, however CQB is 100% more fun then open terrain for infantry, even with the unrealistic deviation. It is however a nightmare for vehicles,

I find it a lot more challanging and fun having some infantry fighting going on the large deserts of kashan and open areas of jabal.

Open areas/fields like Jabal, Yamalia and Qwai (and somewhat Qinling) or the not to dence woods of Fools Road/Mestia etc.

Urban warfare you get in all the other games, this is one of the things that makes PR unique.

I like both.
But I love forest and jungle.
I like seeing people confused by their many trees.
I like when they fight blind and die still confused.
I like the challenge it gives me. The one it gives them especially.

Some like and adapt.
Some don't and ragequit,

Because its fun when you get it right. I've timed it correctly ALOT of times and if you're squad is switched on and you give the right orders at the right times, you can have enemy armor roll right past you like I did one time (BMP went within 30m of us). Plus it presents a challenge. Urban maps glorify lone wolfing (eg Ramiel) where you can simply run around a corner and waste a whole squad with an AK, reload and repeat. I know because I've been on the giving and receiving ends.

Maybe Kashan was a bad example, maps like Silent Eagle for example, where there is a little bit of tree cover but just enough for your to keep a low profile.

I would say I prefer urban, but there's nothing as fun as calling in an LGB on a map like Silent Eagle

I like Insurgency maps a lot (Urban ones like Fallujah, Ramiel and Karbala, which have also space for vehicles).

On AAS, I simply LOVE Central Village in Silent Eagle... Jabal and Jabal al Burj...

Some semi-jungle-urban-forest maps like Qwai River are just the perfect mix between open terrain and CQB. Qwai, IMO, is the perfect AAS map, with enough space to maneuver and not too big to spread the battle too much. There is also space for sneaking up behind and fancy combined-arms assaults and tactics!

Insurgency I simply love Karbala and Ramiel.

Fallujah is fun, too.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

I most definitely prefer urban warfare however open terrain is nice change of pace here and there. Depends on the map and who you are playing with of course.

I prefer forest maps, I just love the atmosphere and since most of the maps a dark, its great for ambushing and close infantry combat without the hassle of armour.
