please elaborate:
what have you already tried?
what messages are you guys receiving?
what are your network setups?
what are your ingame settings?

deleting "My Documents/Battlefield 2", this will delete all profile files (which might be corrupted)
CAUTION: this will reset your settings to defaults!

If all fails, a complete reinstall might help. But supplying more information might bring up a more convenient solution (if your patient).

PS: please keep in mind that this is a free mod and we do not get paid for helping you either, we are doing this in our spare time, some patiencs is the least I expect of you (aside from trying to find solutions your self :P ).

i have been patient, i know you are doing it for free (where do my support money go btw??), but it would be nice with a quick message that you just posted now, acknowleding my message and asking for more info, cause i dont know what info you need...

As i said, im getting disconnected right after i load a map, sometimes after 2 sec, sometimes after 2min. but i always get disc. at somepoint. this has never happen before the new update, and does not happen in vanilla. so theres nothing wrong with my connection.. my ingame settings are as they always were everything on high except textures, which are medium. But i guess there arnt any other solution then reinstalling everything. i tried deleting the bf2 folder.

There are different kinds of disconnects, it is neccessary to distinguish which one it is for each case. Are you getting the common yellow warning text "There is a problem with your connection" or are you simply being thrown back into the server browser, do you receive a message there too?

There might be a game-to-driver incompatibilty problem that might indicate that PR is incompatible with a certain chip. To exclude this possiblity it can be helpful to get to know what everone that is having this problem is using.

Diagnosing a problem that is effecting only a relatively small group of people requires detailed analysis as to what is different to the set of people that it works for.

What security softwares do you use, have you tried with turning them off for testing purposes?

I'm having this problem too. I temporarily fixed it a couple of days ago through reinstalling PR, but since today it is back with full strength (haven't managed to play a single minute).

This would concern the network chip. This information can be reviewed by checking your hardware's manual (i.e. for onboard: consult motherboard's manual).

other things that comes to mind:
Make sure that Windows and Drivers are up-to-date.
Which background tasks/programs are running?
Have you tried manually updateing punkbuster, yet? (https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ost1004244) (I know it doesn't appear do be a PB problem, but PB is known to cause alot of seemingly unrelated and/or random problems.)

All my drivers are up to date. As for the chip part. i dont think i have any manual for the MB, any other way to find this info? I have manually updated PB, but didnt make any difference.
Thing is that the day before the update everything has been working excellent, and have been for several years, no problems.. but after this update i have never gotten a round with more then 5min without DC. Thats why its so frustrating, and i been testing vanilla, and played for hours with no problems... No special programs or tasks running, just the usual and nothing different since before update

I was going to say ill just reinstall evrything, and i prop. will, but since hachichin here, tried with no sucess im a little sceptical. but there obviously must be something hard/software problem on my side, since most people have no problem with the update.

Connection to server loss is usually PB and/or firewall or antiviral programs. For me, I find it's most often Punkbuster B is not set to auto re-start. ( see below)

Punk Buster not updated:
Before you go online to join a server
you should:
1. Download pbsvc
2. Start pbsvc installer, you should see options for install, uninstall, test.
3. Run the Uninstaller, then delete the PB folder to remove any leftover files.
4. Restart your computer.

5. Reinstall punk buster files with pbsvc( if your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
6. After pcsvc installs, click the "test" option to check the punk buster install you just did.
5. Make sure it comes back "all green"
6.Download pbsetup
(pbsvc DOES NOT install pbsetup.
If your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
7.Create a pbsvc installer shortcut AND pbsetup program shortcut on your desktop.
8.Run pbsetup (from the shortcut on your desktop) add BF2 to the games list, then hit update."

(pbsvc installs the punk buster 'engines' or applications.
PBsetup installs the files/gas the 'engines run)

Check Punkbuster B is set to auto re-start.
=HOG=Romeo_One_Three wrote:Open your Control Panel. Go to Administrative Services. Click

on Services while PR is running. Select Punkbuster B, right click, select properties, select the

recovery tab and make sure they all say "Restart the service" for all three dropdowns. You can do

the same for PB A, but generally speaking, it's the B client that stops responding. Any time you

update PB, you may need to re-do this step.
W7 users = In services check box which states “Allow this service to interact with the desktop.

Firewall not set up (open) for BF2 and punk buster
UPDATE YOUR FIREWALL

Make sure your firewall has permission for:

BF2.EXE
PBSETUP.EXE
(search for your location)

PNKBSTRA.EXE
path:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW64\PNKBSTRA.EXE
or (not 100% sure but for 32 bit O/S I think it's)C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW32\PNKBSTRA.EXE
PnkBstrB.exe
path:
"C:\Users"your user name here"\AppData\Roaming\PnkBstrB.exe"
Don't forget to open for BF2VoipServer as well:
C/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2/BF2VoipServer.exe

Good luck hope it helps

I have been able to play some today actually! Was on a server for an hour without problems until I started getting dropped. But once the drops started they kept on coming regardless of what I did. Will try the PB-fix now and see if that helps.
