Mumble - Advertisement discussion
Right, Personally i think mumble needs a advertisement campaign/push/boost. Firstly, dose any one agree? secondly how do we go about it. I have noticed that there has not been one mumble news update on the PR website, maybe if the DEVs did one it could help increase the popularity? Even if it didnt include any new updates just a detailed explanation of what it is, some example videos ect for the people who dont visit the forums regularly or at all.
The included .exe in .9 was a great idea, but did it work? do the DEVs have any statistics of average mumble users per day or anything? Personally i think mumble is the future of PR:Bf2, and the more users the better. Any ideas on increasing the userbase ?

Yes, fully.gazzthompson wrote:Right, Personally i think mumble needs a advertisement campaign/push/boost. Firstly, dose any one agree?
A simple explanation is a better idea. Videos are great for showing people what Mumble is capable of but it's overly complicated details that put some people off.gazzthompson wrote:Even if it didnt include any new updates just a detailed explanation of what it is, some example videos ect for the people who dont visit the forums regularly or at all.
Creating a PRMumble was the best idea ever, meaning that players didn't have to worry about all those settings we used to have to go through. If it could be streamlined even more, I'm sure more people would use it.
The ideal thing (to increase usage) would be Mumble putting players in the correct server channels automatically, although I understand that may be a coding nightmare.

I think there will be many more mumblers if TG start kicking nonmumblers for paying memebers, instead of just random people. And new mumblers is requited every day, but they don't get the habit to log on to mumble before they start playing. And it is hard for them to understand. There has to be a mumble community that they can be a part of. Most clans are using their teamspeak instead. Even when they are on mumble.

To add to the confusion, some servers still use the vanilla mumble and not PR mumble.
Why?

Because some communities play other games than PR, and want a single VOIP solution.Mj Pain wrote:To add to the confusion, some servers still use the vanilla mumble and not PR mumble.

Looking that PRMumble has only gew locked options its not the only reason, all other games work as good in PRmumble as in vanilla. Are the PRmumble server files available to use for those who want their own server instead of channel? Also, PRMumble hasn't been updated in long long time so people might just want to use the better versions.Zrix wrote:Because some communities play other games than PR, and want a single VOIP solution.

Mumble was down last night, and I found playing PR ALOT harder without it. I am just use to being able to talk to another squad via mumble, or talk to that riflemen over there without disturbing the entire squad with VOIP.
I think if we somehow managed to integrate mumble more with PR, more people would use it, and make it more effective in the long run.

This is a great idea, any squad level stuff can be squad text chat and otherwise positional.Jonny wrote:A mumble only (ie: no BF2 VoIP) server might help with this. At least it could show how feasable it is to use mumble as a complete replacement for BF2 VoIP.
The only problem I would see is overuse of the force center being likely as people grow lazy.

i dont know how often you play but have to understand, few PR players use mumble ,mumble is in PR in about 1 year and is not very successful , players try it ,dont like it and they go back to theyr TS or VENT ,you think mumble is "great" ,well for most players not,if you want statistics you can make your own, thats my :gazzthompson wrote:Right, Personally i think mumble needs a advertisement campaign/push/boost.
Friday - 64/64 PR servers ~10-15 ,15-30/64 servers ~5-9, mumble users ~30.
saturday.sunday +10-15% in the servers, mumble users ~35-45
i can make it in exel

Why not? this is a discussion on what to do, not an actual action.PLODDITHANLEY wrote:Not the best time to talk about advertising as it's still down....
id defiantly like to see this as an event at-least , could be a right laugh.Jonny wrote:A mumble only (ie: no BF2 VoIP) server might help with this. At least it could show how feasable it is to use mumble as a complete replacement for BF2 VoIP.

1. Im aware not many players use mumble, hence this thread.
2. I would disagree that its "not very successful" , it just needs more players as its the best thing since sliced bread.
3. If players dont want to use mumble (which i see no logical reason for not using it) then thats there problem.
4. Im not going to "make my own" statics , as i have nothing to base them on. you cant just make up statistics.

You missed my point, you made them "statistics" up on the spot based on what? a poll? some form of 3rd party software monitoring player numbers in game and mumble?
I have neither the willingness or the time to make accurate statics based on mumble users compared to in game users.

Where promoted it is very successful.'mordred[BG wrote:;1326706']i dont know how often you play but have to understand, few PR players use mumble ,mumble is in PR in about 1 year and is not very successful
No, players try it, find out that few servers are actually promoting its use, mumble becomes kind of pointless when only a couple of people per server are using it, they stop using it. People who use mumble on heavily populated servers(RT, TG, PMC) love it and use it frequently.players try it ,dont like it
Also, basic grammar and spelling is not a disease.
