PR failure/ Win 7 64 bit not supported properly?
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and am having trouble loading PR and BF2. When I click on PR it displays a PR screen with Dogtags, then loads the BF2 screen, then PR closes, it attempts to Run a game and goes to black screen, black screen closes and BF2 closes. In similar manner, BF2 attempts to run when I click on it but closes. I've messed with Admin compatibility options and haven't found any solutions. Before I installed PR BF2 ran fine, I loaded it and played a match for a few before closing it and downloading PR. I'm not sure if BF is fully patched but I think if I played online then it must be patched. Is Win7 64 bit not supported or is there a problem? Sorry if I wasn't specific enough, I'm not terribly good with computers. Thanks for any help.

You need to install BF2 and PR under an admin account, and you need to go to properties in BF2 and set compatibility mode to XP, and tick run as administrator. Set run as administrator to PR.exe as well.
Its just the FUBAR way that Win7 deals with legacy XP programs.
Ahh ... ninja'd !

Thanks.
[edit] Oh my, I do feel foolish. I haven't patched BF2 properly. Hopefully this'll fix my problems.

Nope. None of those tweaks are needed. I run PR without any problems on 64-bit Win7 with UAC on and without either admin rights or compatibility mode. I even have UAC set to it's highest level "Always notify", which makes it work the same way as it did in Vista.[R-DEV]Twisted Helix wrote:You need to install BF2 and PR under an admin account, and you need to go to properties in BF2 and set compatibility mode to XP, and tick run as administrator. All BF2/PR needs in Win 7 is clean install without compatibility settings, read&write permission to BF2's mods folder and PunkBuster running as system service.
Actually, I'm not sure if that r&w permission is even needed anymore...

Well unfortunately I have the MD5 mismatch error now and it wont let up...I've uninstalled everything and I'm re-installing it now...Wish me luck.
