civilian arresting
Hey all,
Just wanted to make some suggestions based on the current civilian arrest system which seems pretty wierd in some respects. Firstly, I find it that people often will shoot you so you bleed out and go black and white, then while you can't run just arrest you. Wierd isn't it? Is it realistic this way? If not there should be a warning displayed when you shoot a civil but not kill like. "You are shooting a unarmed combatant, hold fire" or something to get people to stop or is it just a cheap technique. You have a hard time getting away this way which is half the fun of blueforce trying to arrest you.
Secondly, when you do get "punched" and arrested its like being normally wounded, and you can be revived which is rare but then im not sure if the arrest counts against you? not a real simulation when its like getting knifed and being wounded then when your revived not sure if you still get the penalty? Anyway I thought it would be a better simulation if you get hit you freeze for a short period of time in the air and the body disappears rather than falling like your dead or something, or whatever might be possibly in coding to make it look more like a arrest.
Secondly and the biggest concern of my suggestions is arresting with a shotgun is not really realistic in any way as shooting anyone with buckshot is extremely lethal in real life and generally kills or mortally wounds.
However I have a idea that would be more realistic and fairly creative. I would suggestion that on insurgency maps, give the rifleman specialist bean bag shotgun shells that you can shoot a civilian with to make an arrest. Make it so you cannot shoot in the head or it counts as a penality as a beanbag shell is still lethal to the head and the shooter would get a penality. Beanbag shells are used by law enforcement and may not be how the military does arrest but I would think if blueforce went into a area with civilians that have done crimes they would use law enforcement techniques. However ill say its a lot better than "buckshot arrest or should I say death" lol.

Let me know what you guys think.

Re: civilian arresting
Ill just leave my two cents.
1. I thought you get a warning when you engage civilians, it used to be like that.. I havent shot one in some time, but it used to say it in text, maybe voice as well.
2. Shotguns... Itd be another weapon slot that got taken up, as far as Im concerned, you just gotta suspend reality a bit and note that its not meaning you are really slamming them with buckshot, just using bean bags rounds. Its the same ammo, sure, but adding the bean bag rounds really wouldnt add much, and like I said, would take away from another weapon slot.
3. Not sure about arrest coding, as far as I know the restrainers function very similar to the knife and so you "get killed" when hit with them. Just a guess, but im doubting theres much that can be done about what happens after a specific weapon hits you [as in, make you ragdoll like normal, or stop and freeze standing]
besides, stopping and freezing while standing would look even more strange... to just have the body disappear over time or be there and then disappear.. would be equally as weird if not more so

Re: civilian arresting
the main reason for this is that civilians started hiding in pools of waterSecondly and the biggest concern of my suggestions is arresting with a shotgun is not really realistic in any way as shooting anyone with buckshot is extremely lethal in real life and generally kills or mortally wounds.
quite frankly I don't think its entirely out of line that a suspected collaborator was shot resisting arrest as long as non-leathal force was used

Water kills civies Rudd, it was to stop them from sitting half way up a rope or ladder. Which I think works much better than the old way of having civies on a rope or ladder be free to kill.

Re: civilian arresting
If suspect isn complying, use less lethal force. Shot into the leg, ankle or something, while it cant be simulated realistically in PR, but works about the same.

back when the shotgun rule was introduced it was because of the water thing iirc

you can't stop fellas from shooting people in a real situation. it shouldn't be done, but you can't stop it. other times you can't help it.
i think we should get drop weapons in PR haha

Re: civilian arresting
Well its like shooting someone in the leg they get alot slower when the civi is shot its easier to arrest.rushn wrote:really? isnt that unfair though then people would just light em up until they disapear
