Seeing there's a thread about the map;

I love the map. It looks nice.
I got a problem with the layout though, in my opinion the 64 layer is complete asset overkill.
BRDMs and infantry on 16 is a treat, haven't tried 32 yet.
My bit of feedback on the subject.

So far Silent Eagle is the biggest success story for 0.9 in my opinion. Its the only map which has everything you could possibly want, has multiple fields of specialization, and is evenly balanced between armor, air, and infantry.

Tanks can dominate in closed areas, but when the Infantry get firmly rooted in Central Village the armor can get totally screwed over. Today my squad destroyed SEVEN BTR-80/A's and 3 T-90's simply by waiting for them to get into an enclosed area, with the HAT.

The map layout can be sort of silly at times, however its good to know a single TOW can shut down a fifth of the map. To the northeast of Village, at Ob 156, we had a TOW that had an XBOX huge view over the plains, shutting down Russian armor support onto the village.

The one map it is impossible to ragequit on, many cookies to the dev who made it.

For you, mapmaker.

Silent Eagle is my favorite map, seriously, i just love it. But i think R-Dev should change something : the spawnpoint of the USAr armor, It should spawn on the Abandonned airfield, it will be easier for "gameplay".

I freaking love the village infiltration (with the creepy church bell sound) and also the position "hill 64" if I remember well. Was on that hill, only 4 players defending against 2 enemy squads and 1 tank, was hell like fort alamo ;)

Anyone who did this, awesome work. Thanks

I would disagree since that would mean tanks are spawning directly in to combat if the airfield is cappable

I love silent eagle, its just great tbh though I'd much prefer attack helis over jets every time.

letting the tanks spawn @ the road gives the US the chance to flank the enemy when they attack abadonned airfield

I wish there was an 32 player layout. With IFV's (Bradleys and BMP's), transport choppers and attack choppers for both sides.

Yes, I hate tanks.

I've only played one full round (on TG, last thursday). It was a LOT of fun. Clearing the houses with the Shotgun was awesome (it was my squad member who did the shotgunning). We creeped through the bushes and courtyards. We flanked houses. We surrounded them. After some dying we took a HMMVV at Abandoned Airfield, took out a FOB a sniper pointed out to us. In the end, we won 79-0 I think. And the ruskies were using a glitched spawn at Central Village ;)

Oh it was just epic when 4 different squads converged on a single village with 6 ruskies in it... Ultimate pwnage :)

And that was the only map so far I saw the great effect of suppressive fire :) -- Enemy on hills behind bushes takes pot shots at my squad. We locate him. We shoot at his direction. I say "SUPPRESS HIM!" while me and SuperDoni move up on the smoke he just popped (lots of tracers suppressing the smoke). I throw grenade. BOOM. SuperDoni moves up with the shotgun. It's clear.

Also on Central Village, I left my AR on the second floor overlooking a enemy-held block. We go. Throw grenades, throw grappling hook. Get in the house, secure the perimeter. Shoot enemies from second store window. AR keeps us safe. In the end I don't remember what happened exactly.

We didn't capture Central Village because of the glitched spawn though (the admin paused the server - didn't know you could do that - and in those big green letters he says he sees a lot of people using the glitched spawn at Central Village. STOP NOW. - followed by some comments about how we would have already captured the village if it wasn't for the glitched spawn ;) )
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

The Abandoned Airfield. There is just too much overgrowth and hollows on the ground. Specially taxing the F16 is a pain, you need just to run over hollow ground so a wing touches the ground and the jet will break up. IRL the airfield would stay abandoned unless major recondition would be made. I know the airfield looks cool and everything but at this point the map designer has forgotten realism. If it wouldn't been used for operational air base it would be alright.

In all other aspects the map is great work, though extra spawnpoints for jet and helicopter pilots at both airfields would be nice addition.

You raise a good point fubar, its been noted and I'm quite sure the Dev is going to do something about it. Especially for the tree in the middle of the runway ;)

everyone seems do love silent eagle and i do too. the terrain and layout are ideal. the one thing i would like to see (and see for lots of maps) is multiple versions with different armies fighting, just to mix things up a bit. especially when they start adding all these new factions. i assume it would be impossible to randomize this and you would have to create separate versions of the map. but it would be cool if you didnt know if it was gonna be us vs russia, or germany vs. russia, or uk vs. russia etc.

for this reason I'd rather see apaches vs havoks rather than jets: )

Silent Eagle was where the TG-189th boys chose to host the last internal TG scrimmage and it couldn't have been better balanced.

On the 16 infantry layer both teams had a good time.

My only opinion on what could change is that it seems that more often than not, the Vehicle checkpoint is the random flag in play. Are the random flags programed with varied chances of being active at the map load?

I would just love to see other flags in play more often.

Easily the best map in PR.

'nuff said :D

My only issue is that the russians have the proper working airbase, and don't get the froggy/mig. The US have a perfect heliport, and only get chinooks. The asset balance is a bit bass-ackwards in my opinion.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.
