[0917] Cheating with AA turned on

Post by MaxPil »

Hi all,

I'm one from others admin of Russian PR server Gamepolis.ru PR.
Recently we have bad discussions with some players which have black PB screenshots.
Yes, we know that in Windows 7 and Vista with AA turned on players will always have a black PB screenshots.

So black screenshots can't prove the fact player using some kind of cheats/hacks.

But apparently we found that these players (with Win7, Vista and AA turned on) actually have advantages of other players.

It's really simple. With AA turned on players doesn have bloor effect. I mean in case when someone shoot players with AA, those players can shoot back and they can see the attacker.
So players with AA doesn have shaking effect while they under attack.

I'm sorry, try to explain in English, but it's a quite difficult in this case even for me with IELTS 6 :?

The second advantage is that players with AA can easily take damages. Their screen do not changes to bold red and black. I mean it's not bold red as players without AA have. It's more softer.

Just to tell other admins of PR Servers and hope it will be fixed with new version of PR.

I'm gonna assume you mean Anti-Aliasing.

I have always run with 8x or 4x AA, and I have never lacked neither the suppression effect nor the wounded effect. In fast, my screen is completely black when I'm bleeding heavily.

So there must be something else to it. I know there used to be an issue with some Nvidia drivers that would remove all the custom shaders, dunno if it's fixed now.

Yep, I meant Anti-Aliasing.
I have Windows 7, ATI Radeon 4670 and suppression effect in my case is not a big problem. I mean I almost do not notice it. So when someone shoot at me and I've got damage, I can shoot the attacker easily.

It is caused by a shader problem with newer drivers of Nvidia graphics cards and we are looking for a solution.

I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit system, radeon 5850 rig with AA on. I wouldn't mind a glitch, I need all the help I can get. :P

Sadly, I get all effects. Everything plays as it should. Haven't noticed any glitches to this point.

Running a desktop with Win 7, 64 bit with ATI Radeon 4600 and a laptop, Win 7 with NVIDIA gaming card, (not sure which series). I recieve the full blood and blurr effects on both models, although it takes the NVIDIA about two seconds to display the blood effect. ATI card displays it instantly.

I got Windows XP, nVidia GeForce 9600GT, and I run with 4x Anti-Aliasing with in-game settings. I do not get the suppression effects and the black-and-white critically wounded shaders. I am not ready to give up my anti-aliasing for some fancy shaders that reduce my ability to fight back. Until there is a fix, I'm leaving my anti-aliasing on.

XP & HD2600 Pro & can't remember Catalyst version (no AA) = All effects
W7 & GeForce 8800GTS G92 & Forceware 196.21 (8x AA) = all effects except black&white-effect during coughing

I don't think AA has ever caused this. Maybe it's about operating system and drivers? Though I've never had the B&W effect with my G92 - didn't have it on Vista either and haven't had it on any other driver version. And I've always had the effect on the XP machine, even when it had X1650 Pro. There was no difference between Catalyst versions.

i can't even turn on aa, cause then i have no groundtextures, that means i can see behind hills etc. that sounds like cheating. but u can't make a diference if there is a hill between u and the enemy or not.
i have win7 & nvidia 9800gtx+

I remember with 2142 you could change it to compatibility mode for win98 and that would happen with black PB shots.

From being server admin, Black PB screenshots doesnt mean someone is cheating. It's caused by the following...

3D monitors and 3rd party direct x drivers.
NVidia Graphics cards (certain models) - If you dont see suppression effects, youll get black pb ss's.

Some 3d montiors (the one with 3d glasses) also dont like punkbuster and can kick for duplicate DX driver.
