Post by laban »

i have random lag ocurring some minutes into a game and it keeps coming back. never had this issues before 0.9 versions. i've tried on 2 of my computers with total different setups, same recurring lag. will this be looked into in future? anyone else having random lag since 0.9?

Same here, just got a brand new rig and getting the exact same as you, recurring lag every 15-30 minutes. It's getting on my nerves as I can't fly transports and I fall over cliffs because it has to lag right there...

Is it on any specific maps?

Every map. Can't be the computer as it happens on both computers.

Playing on a wireless network?
I've read windows by default will try to find a better connection every 2 to 3 minutes. This can cause a lag spike.

Try bringing up the console in game (that weird key under esc, or it may be tab I can't remember) and type pb_sleep 500. This will make punkbuster scan your computer less often thereby reducing the lag that PB causes.

Alt-Tabbing to Desktop and then back to the game can also reduce or remove the lag. For temporarily at least.

If you still have trouble run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cards cache files

Still no joy?

Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.

You can add it to the file below. It's where PunkBuster settings are stored:
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\PunkBuster\BF2\pb\pbcl.cfg

It's a text file that can be opened with Notepad.
