Password protected server -> less noobs

Post by Skull »

Hi,

i wouldnt call it a suggestion, its kind of, but i wanna discuss it before i really suggest it.
how about making some password protected servers, that you get the password for when being active in this forum (admins can see the "online" time, right?), or maybe some postcount. most of the people on the forums here are active players, who know how to play and introducing such pw protected server would make the gameplay on this servers way better.
bad thing would that there wont be enough players from time to time, wed have to test that. password spreading could be controlled by changing the pw every month or two. and so on...

/discuss

greets,

you could hire a server yourself and set it up?

Also time on forums or postcoutn or whatever doenst work,i barely play PR anymore so i fail harder then most newbies do,yet im still an active forum meber,so yeah.

Aside from that we already have a very elitist status on the interwebz, seperating that whole elitist part of the community will stop the newbs from getting better since they will be lacking people to teach them those,we will be splitting the communnity,we wont get much fresh blood and this will cause the community to die out sooner then if we try to keep our whole community open for everyone who has interest

TL;DR,

No

if time on forums == being cool and fun to play with then goto public server
exit

if being cool and fun to play with > time on forums then goto the many private servers
exit

there were lots of regular passworded events in the past, especially on servers like TG, I like passworded games, I don't like sitting in half empty passworded servers seeding them

More servers should run the TG style nights, "we have a full server tonight, oh, lets run a password then, get the password on our TS/forum" then you can have a good night's gaming.

well, where do i find out about such events? im just a bit sick of those guys on public servers who resist to even read the manual and play vanilla style. so im trying to find a way for more "skilled" games...
€: i already participated for the tournament, though thats 64 players every 5 months ;)

If you haven't, get Mumble, find servers with a good few mumblers, makes teamwork so much easier, look on the PR mumble server for which is most populated.

You were a noob once too, Graz. Cut them a little slack.

Anyway, check out our community events annoucements and the forums of the various surver owners websites.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

maybe this is something the pr xfire group could be used for? give community reps admin access to put things on the PR group xfire page, then everyone gets a little message that a server's event is about to start.

the difference is i
- read the manual
- i didnt tk on purpose
- i didnt use assets i cant handle
- i listened to what other players were saying

and there arent much noobs who actually do that

Noobs are a fact of life, no matter where you are. Instead of avoiding them and hhiding behind passwords, why not invite tyhem to your squad and show them the ropes =D It's actually quite fun, just as long as they are wanting to learn, and not **** around.

The passworded event s are always fun though, especially if mumble is well in use.

What makes me mad is un-admined servers - while it is a HELL of fun - really, we talked a lot on chat, LOLed a lot - the next round some TKer got a stryker (!) and camped Karbala's main!! I had to request tank support (lol) to take it out - he killed all our AT guys before we could fire. And there were SO many kits on the ground you simply COULDN't find the HAT kit (or LAT!) ----- Specially without the images! Passworded servers COULD work like admined without admins - I only played once on TG password night - no smacktards at all.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Fact is ... there really are less and less noobs playing PR the more people get used to it and the more it gets updated the more Newer players get used to it .. also if there is a noob smacking around blowing **** up .. he gets Kicked or Banned Easy :) ... yes pass word protecting willl keep it good .. Mumble servers should be only passworded i say because it promotes you to get on mumble ask for the PW and join in so Every one has mumble and it is a better game :) lol ...

I'd like to see all servers passworded - passwords are in the manual. While one can skim all the way to the passwords, they are gonna see some cool pictures and stop by to read what is deviation :)

And that a mine isn't a normal candy - it blows up if you try to chew it. IEDs, on the other way, can blow up even if you are just close to it. No mouth-contact needed.

Super secret pro teams are scattered all through Project Reality servers.

You need the passkey however. it's ::mumble mumble:: pass it on.

Did you hear it?
