sooooooo much better its not bf2 anymoreWinstonkalkaros wrote:I'm not the right person to ask this. This should be posted by someone from the DEVteam, but i haven't seen this kind of thread. I've noticed that most member of the forums are old players who have played since 0.5 or something like that. My question is:
How do you think PR has developed since the first versions and is there something you would like to revive (other than maps)?

Very developed compared to 0.5 It feels more like a full blown [pun intended] seperate game than a mod.

trouth be told- i find those old assult and defend maps had the best level of teamwork- including the use of armor and air- and those rounds on zatar wetland Assulat and Defend were the best games i ever played.Sniper_dog14 wrote:Guys at least answer his question:
You can see most of the history in the thread linked above but as far as your second question goes I would like to see the return of time based defend maps where you try and defend an objective for a certain period of time and if you do succesfully you're team receives heavy assets that are on a long spawn clock with spawndelayatstart enabled.
There used to be a mode like this but it was removed I presume because the player base couldn't handle the high level of coordination. If this isn't created again for the general public it would be nice to at least see it for server hosts to enable at their own discretion for events...

Been playing since .7, and the game really has evolved into a much more polished and pretty game. And while there are plenty of gameplay advances, on the whole, gameplay has taken a turn for the worse. I just don't seem to enjoy the game as much as I used to.

It's always like that. When you play more you become more bored and less excited.google wrote:Been playing since .7, and the game really has evolved into a much more polished and pretty game. It's not really that though. I understand what you're saying, but the problem I have is that I finish a game more often with a negative experience/thought than with a positive one (like in the earlier days).Kain888 wrote:It's always like that. Been playing since .6. As people have said, PR is a different game now. The game used to be much faster and more arcade.
I can remember one-manning an APC across Qwai, leaving it in a ditch, and using it as a spawn point while my squad assaulted a flag.
I remember when you'd hear a sniper shot and everyone would suddenly snap to that direction and race each other to see who could kill the sniper and take his kit.
On Assault on Mestia, we'd defend the bunkers by leaving the SL in the "panic room" at the top of the bunker while everyone else would spawn on him.
I remember sitting by a firebase and spamming marksman kit requests, filling the top of the screen with orange "** QM ** Charity_Case, sorry I already issued all (2) of the MARKSMAN KITS. How about a Jack Daniels?"
I remember how you used to have to aim the HAT above the tank and then guide it down on target to avoid giving the tank crew lock-on tone.

I totally agree with you. Nothing in PR reminds me of BF2, well except US commands and good ol' marines but that's okay with me.EvilWaffles wrote:Waaaaaaaay back =D
This mod has evolved so much, it has earned being a separate game.

The only thing I really miss from 0.5 are spamming RPGs and C4-enhanced suicide cars all over Basrah, mostly because playing insurgency in a competent fashion isn't really my strong point.
I also feel teamwork's gone forward over the past releases, I mean, flipping choppers was the order of the day back then and the uncoordinated human-wave-from-rallypoint/squadleader tactics have disappeared along with one-manning APCs and tanks.
