Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new here and I was wondering why exactly the X-TRACT game mode was removed? It looked really fun

I tried searching, but couldn't find the reason.

i think it was removed due to lack of popularity. ive been playing PR since like .2 but never got to try out that mode D: ..plus the way PR is now where its more conventional/large armies and not special forces, it doesnt seem like it will return.

Original removed for gameplay/map sizes/community maturity/code issues (uses any of these) that couldn't be fixed at the time.

It may come out out again with the PSC faction as they wouldnt be able to have a huge AAS battle except on a really small scale.

There were two modes that while at the time didnt work so well were really fun when they went right.

Xtract:
Past: You would have to drive a SUV from point A to B then game over. A few issues came up. One, was that player would take the SUV around the out skirts of the map and avoid all enemy. And two its could become a short round.

Future: We are brainstorming new ideas to enhance this game mode. Also The PMC sub-mod has been taking a crack at it which might work well under a PMC gameplay rule book.

Pilot xtractions:
Past: There would be a kit that only one team and a member could pick up (i.e. swap your MG kit for a unarmed pilot kit). Then proceed to a end point. And as well could become a short round.

Future: I along with a few others have been brain storming this as well. Nothing has been started but ideas are flowing.

We have discussed different ways of re-implementing this but have yet to come up with a way (coding) to make a game last longer and/or make it work with gameplay correctly. The main reason is we just haven't looked back into it and with all the other coding tasks just dont have time as of right now to dive into it.

Hopefully it will return at some point

Wasn't there some discussion ages (as in probably years) back of having it more as a convoy mode, with a supply track having similar coding to an insurgent weapons cache and the ambushing force having to take out so many vehicles in a convoy?

Hey Red, for the pilot, what about one more vehicle (a helicopter) that is on a 30 minute timer. This vehicle is the only vehicle that can extract the pilot, making the pilot extraction mode essentially infantry only.

extraction on Al Basrah you had to drive trough a checkpoint on gas station (which now is the british FOB / Checkpoint) before you could get to point B and win.. forcing the xtract team to enter bottle necks that had to be cleared before the SUV came through! Extraction was a really fun gamemode! BRING BACK!

so it on youtube looks very good as i did not get to play it as i joined PR too late
