Medic weapon selection

Post by cocobutter333 »

As medic with some factions being able to select your choice of weapon would help instead of e.g having to spawn without it and select the AK 74U from a crate instead of the "chalanging" SKS - (in this case malitia)

just like the SL u should be able to select your weapon before you spawn

That would require the DEVs to create two kits called medic....and I believe that they can't.

Plus the fact of the matter is that medic's shouldn't REALLY need different weapons. The purpose of it is a self defence weapon.

While I'm not entirely against your idea, it just distracts medics from their true job....healing and reviving.

Please back your idea up with something.

Right now it sounds like you want medics to have multiple weapons for the cool effect, which has no basis in realism or for gamplay aspects.

Well some faction's medics already have multiple different guns for the "cool effect", as militia you can spawn with the sks as medic, or the ak-74u if you select as the alternate kit by right clicking. The same goes for IDF except you just get a different red dot. I think he just wants you to be able to spawn as either medic gun if multiple are available, not add more medic kits.

Well if that's what he is truly suggesting that IS possible...but I still stand by what I said.

A medic's role is to heal and revive, the primary weapon should only be a means of self defence and normally I find the default spawn loadout has all the capability a medic needs. I understand the militia's gun can be a tiny be frustrating at times....but for what the medic SHOULD be using it for it does the job.

In my squads and in my mind the best way for a medic is to operate is as a slightly more catious(sp?) iron sight rifleman, he should be up supporting the squad and even if it is long range engagements suppressing the enemy, killing the enemy whenever possible. Not just defending themselves but the squad and team. The type of gun that the medic gets isn't going to change how he acts. If you give a guy who is always rambo an SKS he will still tard rush off.

All of the other forces have their regular rifle as the medic kit except with iron sights which is fine since he loses his grenades and ammo for the reviveing and healing.

I happen to agree, that the SKS is not really suited to what the medic needs, I play medic a lot, i agree the medic's role in the squad is to play defensively, And the SKS is not really suited to the role,

What you really need when you play medic is a weapon that has automatic fire, preferably a assault rifle.

Post up your sources.

Saying "I want" =/= A source. If you can find a source that says "In the (insert country that is in PR here) Army, medics are given either the (Wep 1) or the (Wep 2)."

@ RHYS

I agree.. there was nothing wrong with the AKS-74u (IIRC medics had that for militia). SKS is pretty ****. At least for what the medic needed to be doing.. defence. The 74u worked incredibly well for defence in CQB anyway.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaattttttt!!!!!!!!

How can you find the SKS ****, it's fantastic. Compared to that AKS-74U it's a killing machine :p .

However, yeah, this has been suggested before. ;)

IRL US Army and USMC as well as Canadian and UK forces all equip their Medics and Corpsman with the same weapons and weapon load outs as their normal Infantry

Like I said. 10 rounds with a slow rate of fire =/= good for defending yourself, at least not in CQB. I agree that the SKS is a semi automatic ironsight sniper rifle tho : D

Yeah, not to mention that Corpsmen have to go to ITB or MCT (not sure which one) for the USMC to operate on foot with the infantry, and I'm sure that the Army requires their medics to do the same.
