How can I set up/use a joystick for gunning in a tank/apc/ifv etc. etc. In game control options gives only options to set up joystick buttons. But turret traverse is still by mouse.
How to make it by joystick ?

Select the setting and move the joystick...works for me.

You have to edit your controls.con manually and add these lines into ControlMap.create defaultPlayerInputControlMap section:
Depending on your controller count and axis order & polarity, you might have to adjust the numbers in IDFGameController_X and IDAxis_X X to match your controller's configuration.
Code: Select all
ControlMap.addAxisToAxisMapping c_PIMouseLookX IDFGameController_1 IDAxis_0 0 1
ControlMap.addAxisToAxisMapping c_PIMouseLookY IDFGameController_1 IDAxis_1 1 1

Re: How to use joystick in a tank
It maps right/left and up/down axis of a joystick to the respective mouse axis as a secondary controls, thus making joystick move cursor/crosshairs same way as mouse does (it works with infantry too). So it should not effect your ability to fly with keyboard and mouse, but as aircrafts have dedicated support for joysticks, flying with a stick might become impossible after adding those lines.Jarryd_455495 wrote:is this the same for heli's gunner control? or will that stuff up the ability to fly?

Go to google and find the program Joy2Key. It allows translating joystick movement to mouse movements. I use it and have set it up for different sensitivities with buttons. Takes some time to set-up but then you can move the turret quickly, normal or in very fine movements for accuracy. I use peddals for acceleration and joystick twist/rudder for steering left right.
