commander UAV
just a few thoughts of the uav
can we have it so that we can see where the uav is on the map, on mutrah its fairly easy to know where u are, but try finding a base on Kashan when u got lost for a minute
Prolly not possible, but make it so u can have the uav do a holding pattern over area (circles)
just like go to a area press 9 and the uav will start doing circles as tight as it can, staying over the same area, that way you can stay over a target (like a real UAV) and go back to ur commander screne.
And last and most liklely imposible suggestion, make a way to set way points for uav (cause really its not the commander that would fly its a seperate guy flying on commander way points)

Re: commander UAV
Not sure about your last idea, but that would be nice.
Its totally possible in ARMA 2.

Re: commander UAV
The current UAV is setup like the TV-guided Hellfires of vBF2.
In this setup, if it were kept as a vehicle launched projectile CAN:
-have a map marker associated with it (though I can't recall, but the enemy may see it too)
-possibly be given a wide enough turning radius that would cause it to turn "on spot" if clicked at the edge of the screen.
-possibly be given views/zoom levels. Not sure on this one, as I'm not sure what the camera properties of a projectile are, but worth investigating (same as looking into free-look capabilities).
it CAN NOT:
-Be given waypoints no matter how it's coded, AFAIK.

I'd love to see a zoom feature and map icon.

i would love if uav could stay in one place. zoom, and laze targets. that would be awesome

Re: commander UAV
I believe lazing would make it potentially too powerful. Any offensive capabilities should be off of the UAV unless it can be shot down. Keep it passive. Besides a commander can place lazes from his Command Screen.Archerchef wrote:i would love if uav could stay in one place. zoom, and laze targets. that would be awesome

Re: commander UAV
The UAV is really easy to use, you just analyze what position you are over the map, and then you give out rough coordinates to stuff (Or well, that's what I do.)

ya do that on kashan....
i agree tho no offensive, zoom be very nice, and the click edge of screen to turn on spot be very nice

Re: commander UAV
isnt it so that when you press CAPS you can zoom in on the map (using 'n') and where you stop zooming, that's where the uav is?

Exactly. You can also use 'N'.mistryx wrote:isnt it so that when you press CAPS you can zoom in on the map (using 'n') and where you stop zooming, that's where the uav is?
Lol. I don't see why people are complaining, it's incredibly easy already.
