Lol, I had the exact same thing today. Had just seen it destroy a FOB up in the hills East of the bunker complex and was moving with a bunch of guys when I heard the sound of the bomb and....yuh.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

As an APC gunner:
"TOW TOW REVERSE!"
You know how this ends.

I was in an infantry squad as a medic on Muttrah, we were on the roofs.

*Bullet whiz sound*

"What the fuck?"

"SNIPER!"

"What?"

*Dead*

That projectile flyby sound is unbelievably epic, for the record...

Being able to hear it almost makes up for the fact that I just died by massive bomb from above.

At least 1/4 of all my famous last words moments are preceded by a projectile flyby sound.

"Why is the chopper tumbling to the side?"

"Did this pilot warm up the engines?"

You guys can guess the rest...

Just happened on Beirut, one transport heli squad of two, other four were piloted by n00bs.

classic mine example: sitting in front passenger seat in humvee spotting a mine at good stopping/evading distance.

Me: "Dude, there's a mine ahead"
Driver: "Huh?"
continue driving
Me: "MINE! MINE! MINE!"
BOOM!
