New player in need of tips/help

Post by Fatalvirus »

Hi, I am new and would like some tips and help on PR. I have been playing the single player for what seems to be more than a year but have never attempted to go into multiplayer games. I would like to get involved etc. Wondering how things work, and I am in the process of reading the manual.

If you can, get a microphone, join a squad and try to follow your squadleaders orders. If youre new with helicopters and jets practise on the single player.

Try to read the server rules and if youre in doubt, ask.

Well, besides the immense increase in difficulty, if you really want to prepare yourself for the PR experience, you need to just let go of what you want to do, and start dong what your SquadLeader (SL) wants you to do. If you play like you are a cog and not a gear you will be pleasantly surprised.

A good way to start would be working as a medic in an Infantry squad. The role of Medic isn't too complicated, and pretty straightforward. By working as a medic, you'll learn to follow commands, how to avoid fire while healing, and how to best support your team.
Another good thing is to join a squad and just listen to them, you'll pick up a lot of useful things just watching and listening.

Hope you find this useful ;)

And remember, let your SL know you are new. 9/10 chances he'll be glad to help you out. I know I would be. And most other SLs.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

1. read the manual if you haven't and read it again just for refresher.
2. buy a microphone, my $15 logitech one has lasted me over a year perfect quality.
3. Be polite
4. Read server rules
5. NEVER join a squad and request the sniper kit and just leave
6. Always ask if you can have certain kits from your squad leader
7. Don't use harsh language.
8. Don't use assets you have no clue on how to handle.

A little bit off topic...boilerrat do you happen to play the Insurgency Mod on the source engine?

Noticed your avatar.

tip for ingame: take cover!

i see too many people wandering out in the open (sometimes this can't be helped) but that's probably one of the golden rules.

take it easy man, might see you in a round!

Join a squad, tell the SL your new and expect to die, ALOT. PR is quite a learning curve and takes alot of practice to understand all the principles(still learning myself).

Basically, read the manual, play some local to understand some of the kits. Then hop in, your not going to learn anything waiting about, get in there! =D

A medic is not for a new ppl playing the game they should watch other people playing medic 1st and then take it if they fell comfratable.

i dont understand how you could play PR SP for a year and not even touch the online.well anyway you will probaly start out very good for a new guy but SP is kinda diffrent from multiplayer helis are a big issue if you crash them team work is the biggest thing playing the game.

I like the sound of this training. I dont really fancy jumping into a squad and ruining their game.
