Post by kumade »

Hello, everyone.
I have made rocket pod, which is used on russian Mi-helicopters.
This is first version. I'm working on LODs and hierarchy now.

nice work mate... you going to creat the correct wings for it too?

HangMan: BF2 Editor, it has very strict limitations memory wise, and crashes all the time. Its like a girl. Treat it with respect and take it slow and you'll get places. Rush and get ahead of yourself and it will turn around and punch you in the mouth

Looking very good, but I don't understand, Stigger already did some rocket pods for the Mi-8, maybe you are doing an alternative version ? I'm not an expert about Russian stuff.

My tip : add an alpha channel to your texture, put it in black or at least dark grey,(and be sure to have exported your model with the ColorMapGloss technique, if not edit your bundledmesh and add ColorMapGloss as technique, or reexport your model with the name texturename||ColorMapGloss for your materials.)

If you've done a specular, add it in the alpha channel and be sure to have well chosen the technique.

With this, you will remove the shiny effect in the editor (and then in game)

ouwww, 40 rockets of pure power...

you did a great job on those scratches and normal maps, you should only take Hauteclocque's advice, fill the NormalMap Alpha channel with pure black, or work into a grayscale texture to make it look less glossy.

another thing I noticed, the tubes are too dark, I know it is may be burnt by the rockets, but 100% black don't look good, try to make it a little bit brighter

other than that great job.

Hm, dunno. Nosferatu tells me to do this exactly for Stigger's Mi.

Ye, i did this. As you can see, for example, these rusty areas on the top of the pod is not so shiny as the bottom part. Well, i will try to darkenize alpha channel a bit more.

Ok, i'll try to make it brighter.

I can see it now, an Mi-8 doing a strafe on an IDF firebase on Beirut, the manned .50's cleaning up the infantry, a true gunship. Going to be awesome, nice work mate.

Ok, it's fine so.
Don't hesitate to put the alpha channel in full black.

Great work Kumade! :-)

Here is the layered .psd file of the UB_32_57 rocket pod so you can match in with the light grey base colour of the pylons. >> http://www.pintura3d.com/downloads/real ... 2_57_c.zip

Cheers!
