Locking the grapple hook

Post by kanonator »

When someone is mounted on the grapple hook, it is still possible for the specialist to grab back the line. It has happened too often that while I'm still climbing up (or down), the squad's (or other squad's) specialist absent-mindlessly grabs the line and everyone on the rope ends up falling to their deaths. I've even seen it used as a way to team-kill without getting the penalty. For example a specialist would throw up a rope for a sniper to get up onto a roof. And as he's about to reach the top he grabs it back, the sniper falls down and dies, and your specialist is now a sniper.

My proposal is simple: lock grabbing back the grapple hook while there are still people holding onto it.

95% sure this isn't possible. I wouldn't be surprised if you can lock picking it back up non-selectively, but locking it only when someone is on it I very much doubt is possible.

If it is possible it would be via python.

Although it's annoying, it's nice when you have a specialist who just happens to not have a rope, and an enemy tries to rope up, and he pulls the rope on 'em.

what I mean is ie I see a BLUFOR throwing a grappling hook. He used it but did not take it back. As OPFOR can I go and use it to climb after him?

Ropes are nuetral, you can climb up anyones.

I was a civi on the roof of the Russian Apartment buildings on the south edge of Fallujah with another civi, accidently fell off. Saw an American looking away from me so I threw a rock at him, then ran away. My teamate threw his rope down for me to climb which the American also climbed after me, once I got to te top I turned around and we both stoned the American to death when he reached the top.

If it's possible:

Make it so you can't pull it up if there is a friendly on the rope. If there's an enemy on it, make it so you can pull it up regardless of friendly or enemy.
