Pilot Kit ROE
I put this forward in another thread but I think we should discuss the idea of ROE for the kit, not adding a weapon or anything.
Killing an unarmed pilot(considering your a conventional faction) would earn you a penalty, possibly effecting spawn time and tickets. Where as if you capture(Knife) the pilot, you get a ticket bonus!
THIS IDEA IS VERY ROUGH AND IM LOOKING FOR INPUT TO REFINE IT.

Re: Pilot Kit ROE
Out of all the pilots' suggestions, this one is far the best! Making ROE I honestly and seriously never saw this discussed (it must've been though).
But I think this would only work if you got tickets for knifing the pilot rather than not being able to engage it -- if he runs away, are you gonna let him do that?
Also, if you make a ROE like, if he gets off a vehicle, in the next 1 min he's engageable, then not anymore (risk of getting a longer spawn timer). However, this would make helo crashes rather odd - you can shoot him when he lands
If it is possible to make so he cannot be engaged at all after leaving a CHOPPER that would be nice (prevents HMMVV .50cal exploiting and other vehicles you know?).
However, adding tickets to knifing him will prevent rescue operations. Which are fun, I believe. I am still needing to have an opportunity to do it... Perhaps another Black Hawk Down community event on Ramiel?

I kinda like this but what about the insurgents, Taliban, and Militia... Can you implement this ROE in AAS and not Insurgency?

I think that will still work, because they would probably capture pilots for use in propaganda videos.USMCMIDN wrote:I kinda like this but what about the insurgents, Taliban, and Militia... Can you implement this ROE in AAS and not Insurgency?

I like the idea of capturing pilots for propaganda vids. It makes it realistic =P
Although i dont think the Taliban or Insurgent leaders punish for killing the infedels. Maybe a small bonus for knifing (capturing) the pilot, and nothing for killing him except gaining another kill on the scoreboard
Yes, another BHD community event. GET TO DA CHOPPA!

Re: Pilot Kit ROE
As I said I support this idea 100% so Im just gonna paste what I said in the previous thread.
Thoughts? The ROE stuff sounds very nice to my ears. IMO it should be something like when a chopper crashes of course you lose 10 tickets or w/e I cant remember how many exactly. But! If the pilot comes to the main base safely you get 5 tickets back, to kind'a redeem yourself. If the pilot gets killed no penalties are done to the killing team, but if the pilot is captured I.E. punched in the face, it counts as additional tickets to the "punching" team, to represent the knowledge gained by questioning and so on.
This would really add some interesting scenarios, I can only imagine my clanmate getting shotdown and hidding in the bush somewhere while my squad makes my way to him, gives him a weapon and escorts him back to main. Thoughts?

Re: Pilot Kit ROE
well i read thrugh what you said but how would the machine know that the pilot is missing? and how would it give points back to you ?? i don't know . there might be some morons who would crash the heli come back to the base and do it again just to get a lots of tickets!! think about it this way to.....-.-Maverick-.- wrote:As I said I support this idea 100% so Im just gonna paste what I said in the previous thread.
Thoughts?

Pretty dang good idea -- pretty sure conventional forces don't kill unarmed people.

But if he's running away - what are you gonna do? Chase him with the knife? Shotgun him? What if you request a pilot kit so you are not engageable? As in, you can hop in any vehicle and not get killed after leaving it, OR be killed right after you left your chopper, no penalties.Startrekern wrote:Pretty dang good idea -- pretty sure conventional forces don't kill unarmed people.
What I mean is, I have 2 simple questions:
-How modable is ROE?
-Can you caracterize a chopper differently from a car? (ie. You are engageable 2 mins after you enter a car, but never if you entered a chopper?)

Re: Pilot Kit ROE
Screw pilot special rules, if he is lost in the field he is worth one ticket which he can save by walking back. There is no reason to have a bunch of special circumstances for him because he can handle a joystick, if you want to have rescue and capture scenarios you should work with a server to set one up. In normal games the pilot who is lost in the field was lucky he didn't die with his vehicle.
I say this as a frequent chopper pilot. The vehicle is the asset, not the pilot.

The cost to train one jet pilot is about $1.4 Million. The pilot is just as much an asset as the jet.
But with the original idea, it would have to be worked so exploits such as people grabbing a pilot kit just so they can go scout without the other team being able to shoot them would have to be avoided.

Re: Pilot Kit ROE
ROE for civilians changes based on what items in their kit they use. So how about this:
Pilot is only 'unshootable' when he has his 'hands up' deployed, and thus cannot run away. Actually you could add this for any kit. Drop your gun and a minute or two later, come out with your hands up. Or drop your gun and if you activate your hands up you will die if you pickup a kit within X minutes so you can drop your gun real fast and surrender, but you can't be a faker and pickup your gun as soon as the enemy gets his knife out.
Add some incentive like +200 points and two kills for capturing an enemy, but if you are captured you don't get a death or something to give incentive to surrendering.

You enter ANY vehicle and you are engageably. I'm wodering if you can do that to pilots, but make them unengageable by entering choppers...Startrekern wrote:How .. modable is it?

a whole lot of rules for a few players on a server that are most time in the air.

STOP IT, you will get the thread locked again!! If you want to add a pistol make a new thread, this one is for discussing ROE related questions. So please for the love of god no more pistols.bromley wrote:why was the pistol taken away from pilot in the first place? at least give him a knife cmon ;0

+1 For this. I shoot pilots. They're the enemy, I don't care about their ROE.

Newsweek recently released a figure that it costs $1 million to train and equip a US infantryman for a deployment in Afghanistan. Source
Besides. wouldn't you then lose the tickets or get the punishment if you shot down the vehicle?
Anyway, this is a stupid idea. Go down with your plane/helicopter. Pilots are no more valuable than any other player. In fact they are less valuable, because the asset they just loss is worth 10 riflemen. If you really want a rescue scenario, set it up in your own server.
