Patch 1.5 Problem

Ok so i've been searching all over for an answer to my problem, but no luck so I figured id ask you all.

I have patched all my BF2 files to 1.41, and have checked this by looking at the patch log, but every time I try to run the patch 1.5 final, I wait twenty minutes but still the setup dosen't run. I cannot figure out the problem. The patch should be legit since it has the macrovision setup.exe. I really want to start playing PR again

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok ha ha, I figured out the problem now I need help. My core battlefield is at v1.41 while my Special forces is at 1.1. So how do I only patch the BF2 SF to 1.41???

Weird, that 1.41 patch should have patched your SF too Are you sure you have installed it properly and not simply copied files around?

Try to re-apply 1.41 patch and if it doesn't help, remove and re-install BF2.

Patching everything at once after install should be enough. But if you are willing to test different approaches, you can install BF2 and expansion & booster packs in steps and (re)apply 1.41 patch in between every step. Finally try to apply 1.5 patch and see if it updates any files.

When checking version numbers, don't rely on readme files. It's better to check for example file named mod.desc, which explicitly defines the version of the mod in question.

I guess you could say the problem lies with patch 1.41 then. If SF is at a diffrent Version # then BF2 then it explains why Patch 1.5 will not start or run. I found the mod.desc so how would I find my Version in that?? Thanks for all the help

Open the file with notepad, it should look like this:

so the patch (1.5) should be running then right?? cause no matter how many times I try it will not start

Just a quick check: are you sure you have 1.41 installer as it's not the same as older 1.4?

It says 1.41 on the installer, mabie I can try a link you have used that worked for 1.41?? see if it lies somewhere in a the relm of a crappy download??

Maybe you should consider downloading 1.5 too, just to make sure you have no corrupted installers. I know it's almost 2 gigabytes, but because I haven't seen what your installers do or don't do, I can't come up with better ideas.

Oh I have no problem with Mem still have 780GB. I have the 1.5 downloaded but I want to try this first and see if it was the 1.41 patch messing me up. I got my 1.5 from the EA site so I think the problem lies in the 1.41 installer. The problem with the 1.5 was that it would show an hour glass for mabie 3 seconds and nothing would happen. Anyway thanks for all your doing so far, all the help here and friendly people are the reason I chose these fourms.

No dice my Mod.desc still says 1.4 any other things you can think of??

Back to the drawing board then. After re-reading your original post I noticed this spot can be read several different ways:

So exactly what the installer is trying to do? Can you see any windows? Installer is a wizard type of software, can you get to the welcome screen? At which point it becomes unresponsive or disappears?

It shows the hourglass timer for about 3 seconds, but the installer never appears. The only response I get from running the patch is the hourglass for 3 seconds, no matter how long I wait.

EDIT: How do i patch the game if it is in the H folder not the C???

If you have installed it correctly and not moved files afterwards, the install location is stored in the Windows registry and patcher can lookup it from there.

Oh Im just gonna clear up some room on the C drive and install it on there instead. Ill let you know if theres a problem. Ill let you know the result in a hour or two. (my clue)

Hmm patch 1.41 is still only patching my game to v1.41 Any other thoughts???
