Why do so many Commanders forget about this useful tool?
I'm not just refering to the Insurgents informant ability, but the ability to mark suitable LZs or troop waypoints on the map?
Whenever I join as commander I immediatly set up at least 3 of these on the map. This helps Transports because they allow SLs to give an accurate area they need to be dropped in that the Pilot/Driver can see on the map. For example, a SL can say "Drop us just South of Waypoint B" or "Pilot we are going to fallback to LZ A for evac".
The other great function is it can be used to mark LZs for pilots that are clear of AA or other threats. The commander just uses the UAV or intel provided to confirm the area is safe.
Another use is to mark an area for several squads to linkup at before assualting an objective.
These are just a few ways this tools can be used, so please Commanders....use it to it's fullest!

Re: Waypoint/LZ Marker neglect?
As a Commander, I have found that I don't receive enough intel from squads out on the field as the battle changes; rightly so they're busy with other things.
In essense, by the time you put a waypoint marker down, it's usually an unreliable deathzone in 5 minutes.
Plus, with a 1m wait timer after placing OR removing one of these markers (making shifting LZs impractical), there are more pressing things to mark on the map... Like where the enemy is.

Waypoint markers normally become areas of high concentration of BLUFOR team - we normally build huge FOBs over there and defend it while others go in the city for an operation.

They would become ever changing and good pilots dont need markers to tell them where to land. They know where is usually is safe so long as inf out in the feild keep them up to date on enemy vehicles and AA in the area.
