HMV spawn on FOB
I remember when HMV's (2) spawned on FOB completion. Is there any way we can include that ability from maps without heavy assets? Like Asad. Otherwise they would make huey useless. HMV should be the most common vehicle on the battlefield for botht eams.

Re: HMV spawn on FOB
they just got spammed in strange places to gain extra vehicles when this was possible
the mapper should choose the asset layout per map, to keep gameplay consistent.
though you do mention asad kahl which does need an examination of what vehicles and what flags are in play

it would just be more stuff for insurgents to kill when they find the fob. i like building them then going on foot.

Re: HMV spawn on FOB
i think maybe, the more FO's you have the more assets you have
like 1 FOB will give you: 1 supply truck and 2 trasport trucks and a humvee transport, 2 fo's will give you 2 humvee's extra as well as the 1 supply truck and 2 trasport trucks and a humvee transport.
and lets say after all the FO's go down you start to loose heavy assets or if yo don't put 1 FO up after 10 mins of the last one going down you start to loose heavier asset spawns like eg. after 10 mins of not having a FO up you loose a stryker or something a long those lines, possible or not?

Re: HMV spawn on FOB
Why do we want to keep everygame on one map feeling like the others before it? THis consistent gameplay gets boring after a while of playing the same maps, so if a team wants to wait back and build up some light vehicles why not.[R-CON]Rudd wrote:the mapper should choose the asset layout per map, to keep gameplay consistent.
While I'm not sure about this suggestion because of the thing already pointed out like spamming FBs, and humvees already costing tickets, but at the same time I miss having those light vehicles that just aren't on many maps anymore and a lot don't respawn.

Re: HMV spawn on FOB
Why can't we just add a deployable Vehicle Rally Point or something, to simulate establishing supply lines up to a certain point?
Then you could FINALLY have transport without just spamming them everywhere.

Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Re: HMV spawn on FOB
You can always take better care of your given vehicles...
Letting Humvee's (or the equivalent) spawn on FB's will lead to a crazy about of vehicles on some maps.
Or you could always... you know... walk. I hate seeing half a team in main because they "have no transport", this imo, is inexcusable... especially on 1km maps such as Asad Khal or Fallujah West where walking from one end of the map to the other takes like 2 minutes.

Ok...how 1 HMV spawn per foxhole built, maximum 2? That would prevent people from building FOBs and leaving the vehicles behind (if thats what you guys mean by vehicle spam?).

Re: HMV spawn on FOB
What they mean by vehicle spam is when a squad drives around setting up FOBs, waiting for the Humvee to spawn, and then blowing up the FOB, driving somewhere else and repeating the process until they have massive amounts of humvees. Back in version 0.8 this was done a whole lot. It wasn't uncommon to see a line of 10 vodniks or humvees coming over the ridge. Not that it was always a bad thing, there were some epic Kashan 16 rounds, but there was no control over it, so on maps like Muttrah where the US depend highly on Air transport, having to face massive amounts of vodniks all around the city was a little much. IMO spawning trucks on FOBs only works well in symmetrically balanced maps.

Re: HMV spawn on FOB
Have a dedicated "transport" squad, on maps such as asad kahl this is extremely effective. All you need to do is get 1 person in a trans truck and ferry people. Do this or build firebases.. and your all set.

Re: HMV spawn on FOB
@Jonny, we should be able to have vehicles spawn under siege. I know this from personal experience. When the Siege of Tobruk started, I built a jeep in the middle of the city and drove straight through the German lines without a scratch. A simple HMMVW shouldn't be that hard, now should it?
All jokes aside, I agree with the devs and that the mapper should only decide what vehicles spawn, not the firebase.

@Excavus/devs Agreed. The vehicle spam in .8 wasn't fun unless you were on the side that was spamming. Then it was just pure destruction (on some maps). Of course on Kashan it was great

Re: HMV spawn on FOB
I think this idea is a non-starter.
Assets should, as many have already said, be primarily dictated by the map editor.
I don't think getting a new vehicle for popping up a FOB in a jiffy is particularly realistic; plus from a practical perspective some moron is just going to ninja it on his own anyway.
Lastly; what about FOBs build in obscure places and inside buildings? How would you adjust spawn variables to account for that?

Fair enough, I gues it wasn't inspired by much more than nostalgia for how it used to be. HMV patrols (when done right) are BRUTAL.

Namely ;
HUMVEE bombardments.
Disagree with OP, don't want it to come back. It got used in a very gamey way and had no realism element to it at all.

Gotta say i loved the hacker in Vanilla that had 100 FAV's fall from the sky in one drop. Knocked out a jet, a chopper, a tank, and multiple infantry. It was a beautiful sightTannhauser wrote:...Remebering HUMVEEs falling from the sky, spawned from obscure locations.

I think if the enemy team manages to destroy the assets that allow you to be mobile, it should have the advantage of them having the initiative and you being hampered in your movements. Your team should focus on defense at that point, untill the assets spawn back. Hey at least they spawn back. Irl if you lose your transportation, thats it you are stuck.
