PR Radio

Post by _casualtyUR »

What are the chances of having a Project Reality internet broadcast of music.

It could be a source of DEV communication to the public, good music (or not so good), volunteer DJs.

I'm sure someone could donate a server or host the endeavor.

This site, realitymod, has ton of viewers or traffic and a radio station would keep people here longer and they could (maybe) listen ingame.

I'm sure the DEVs have excellent singing voices.

Old Rock, or new screamo. Depends on the DJ.

Just like every radio station hosted by 'some guy' on internet.

I would love PR Radio. News could stream every 20-30 mins or so if it's new. Or else it would be called.. olds? :3

Anyway, I'm sure if you made a poll on what everyone listens to I'm sure you could find it. Or just have 2-4 DJ's. :) I'm sure there's some kind of program on the internet that lets people look through the DJ library and find a song.

any one can do it from their home pc, but with 15-20 seconds delay with shoutcast.
Quite easy to set up shoutcast on dedi boxes though, just the question of who will pay for the bandwidth ;p

Well, why don't we just make some songs and add them to the vehicle radios (like Herbiie said - press X and the music turns on). We could have the game loading music (which is simply awesome 8) ) and some music by Nugiman and other DJs. I've seen some musicians in PR. We make a thread, we get quick answers, there we go!

And if you re-press X, the music turns off. Press again, next music.

Is that possible?
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Might be possible with a third-party program but .. not something easy to set up, and nobody else could hear it but you.

In a car, anyone can hear it - even in the proximity.

I'd say press 'X' for civilian cars only. I'm not a large fan of Humvees/Land Rovers/etc driving around with music blaring over the terrain.

I know a way to hotwire mumble to an object in-game, like here

If you make the station I could broadcast it ingame...when I get my computer back.

All you have to do is just change the Radio Sound you hear near Command Centers and edit in whatever sound you want. Just a file change.

This idea.. Less spam, better PR. ;-)

But then you wouldn't have any variety and Morons would spam the **** out of it when they got into a vehicle.

Server Admin's discretion, PR's Station, More variety, less **** to download, less spam, ninja'd.

Also there are legal issues probably, that would need to be sorted out.

What legal issues? You just need to own what you play. When I volunteered at the community radio station all the DJ's brought in their CDs and played them on the air. You just need to own what you play. Plus we can have fake news broadcasts or broadcasts about other servers like updates on the Mec/US situation in Jabal or about British involvement in Lashkar Valley. Now that'd be awesome.

Actmantura - good point, fake news cast, concerning the game's factions and of course real news cast, too.

There are tons of free music (radio stations) on the internet. One of my favorite is:
Subspace Radio

Legal, one of our European friends could host. An American broadcast could run into problems.
