Medics and Wounds Effects(yes, another one)

Post by Ugly Duck »

Yes, I made a post about something that has been discussed about a hundred times. With the new DCR version, many of us have a first hand experience of how well a wounding system can impact your ability to fight. So here are my suggestions/citations regarding wound effects, and how they can be remedied by your friendly medic.
No one likes getting shot, wether it be real life or in a game. But untill now, at least in the BF series, getting shot was little more than having your little bar go down and wanting to find a magical cabinet with the red cross. Not needing to get healed, just thinking it might be a good idea. But DCR changed that for BF:1942, and I think PR should do the same for BF2. When your in game soldier is shot, a couple of things should happen to him.

1) You will notice a heart beat sound. This should be a rappid sound, not the slow one from BF. Honestly who has a slow heart rate when being shot at. Much less when actualy shot. It would get louder as you lost health.

2)Tunnel Vision should set in, and worsen the point where the only thing you should be able to see is a small 1-2 inch circle on your monitor.

3)Your view should begin to wobble at a certain point. Simulating the woozieness/lightheaded ness caused by blood loss. You would not be able to run as straight, or for that matter shoot as straight. Making you NEED a medic to be combat effective.

4)You should begin to bleed. Depending on what gun you were shot with and where will determine how fast you actualy bleed. If you get hit with a 9mm round in the leg, you probably wont bleed as fast as someone who takes a 7.62 sniper shot to the gut. Aside from leeding to death, however obvious that is, bleeding will also increase the intensity of the effects listed above.

Now of course there has to be a way to fix all of these icky effects. Thats why you have a medic with you! First lets cover the medics inventory:

-Knife
-Primary Weapon
-Bandage/Field Dressing
-Morphine

The Bandages, when aplied, would stop the bleeding and woozieness(wobbling screen). Tunnel vission and heart beat would also go away over time as these are a result of pain instead of bloodloss. Morphine is a pain killer, can you guess what it's for? Thats right, it makes that pain go away, so now you can see well and hear properly! However, morphine is not as abundant as those bandages and would be saved for those who have taken more damage and are in more pain than those who are suffering from lesser injuries.
Now because medical supplies would be just that, you wouldn't be able to magicaly regenerate them like you would a magic bag. So instead, you would need to get them from a field ambulance or a medical helicopter. Also, medical supplies could be taken from fallen medics(if you can "loot" individual items such as grenades and such, medical supplies would work the same way).

Hope you guys like the ideas, and I hope the BF2 engine can handle it.....

I like the ideas, but no sure it I would go as far on some of the suggestions, just as far as gameplay of someone who hasnt yet experienced a mod with suck realism, might be a letdown for them.

I would definately support them if BF2 could handle, its just I wouldnt support them if BF2 didnt handle it, but it was forced anyways.

Great suggestions though. And DCR owns.

Didn`t read much in this topic, so I hope this hasn`t been mentioned yet:

- How about that: When you are getting shot at/get (not mortally) wounded,
your heart beat will get faster AND you can sprint (f.e.) a bit faster for some seconds due to the adrenaline being pumped in your veins!

What about this one??? :D
