Steps to Reproduce and Description:
While loading the map Dragonfly, it crashes upon reaching the "verifying client" step. I hear the windows error sound, and the PR cursor turns to a MS hourglass. when alt tabbing out, I see
memory.dll: all alloc attempts failed for size 1048576
I had 4 gigs of pc6400 ram and a 4gb paging file.
As per others advice, I uninstalled BF2 and PR, reinstalled both with fresh .91 setup files, I updated my pb client, and set my paging file size for all my drives to 8 gigs. I still get the error. The problem is not a limited amount of memory I can tell you that right now.
I was thinking. Does Dragonfly have more unique objects than any other map? Does it break some unknown limit of unique objects on a level? Does it require the most memory? When I alt tab out after PR has crashed loading Dragonfly, BF2.exe is only using 1.63 gigs, when many games I play or have played used over 2.
Tested On:
Dragonfly std online, and Dragonfly inf and std on a local server.
*update* just tried to play a Skirmish Dragonfly on TacticalGamer, and it CTD with no memory error, and no error gong noise. Just the little glitchy 1/2 buzz. If even the skirmish won't load, I'm thinking the map is bugged.
This error only occurs on Dragonfly. I have played ever other map with no problems.
Video Settings (if needed):
1280x960
video settings are all on the highest except for AA which is 4x.

I think this is caused by it being to much for your ram to handle. I.E you are running out of virtual memory.

No, see that's the thing. I said that I had 4 gigs of system memory and 8 gigs of virutal memory. Battlefield 2 with Project Reality in its entirety is not even close to 12 gigs.sylent/shooter wrote:I think this is caused by it being to much for your ram to handle.
