PR crashes just as map loads

as the title says really, i join a server, and when the map finishes loading it just crashed to desktop. happens with FH2 as well. i'm baffled.

did you install the patches in correct order? you can right click on the pr/fh2 icon, select properties, go to target/destination and add +fullscreen 0 at the end then it will start in windowed mode and give you an error you can post.

Compatibility mode to xp and run as admin not set in desktop shortcut on Vista PCs
Right click shortcut
choose 'properties' from bottom of list
Click on the Compatibility 'tab'(along the top of the window)
Check 'run as admin' box, select WINDOWS XP(service pack 2

In game textures set to 'HIGH' (Vista)
Set the textures to medium.
I'm not sure why this makes a difference with high-end cards that can run games like Crysis on high quality settings with no problem at the same res,
but for some reason it can matter in Project Reality/Vista.

Be sure you run the game @ 1024x768 or higher

Sounds like something went wrong with BF2 install.

Try to remove entire BF2, including mods and reinstall these components in this particular order:

1. Install BF2
2. Install expansion & booster packs if you have any
3. Install BF2 v1.41 patch
4. Install BF2 v1.5 patch
5. Install PR v.0.917 using full installers part 1 & part 2.
6. Do not install any other PR related stuff
7. Install PunkBuster System Services
8. Update PunkBuster with PBSetup
9. Start regular BF2 once and retrieve or create the account you are going to use with PR, if it doesn't exist already.
10. Start PR using the shortcut on your desktop
