[help] New computer

Post by -CJ- »

What up guys, I really want to restart playing PR so I'm looking for a new computer. A friend got something for me but I'm not really up to date in computer technology.

INTEL Q6700 2.66GHZ Quad Core
C2SBM-Q
1 TB western digital caviar black
8GB RAM Kingston
ATI Radeon HD 4350 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16
Windows 7

So, is that good for PR. And is it good for 450-500$ CAN ?

thanks

peace

Lo..

Dump the Black eddition drive for a 500 Blue and drop your RAM to 2 x 2Gb. The graphics card you want is the ATI 5750. The savings on the other stuff should be enough.

Not a great fan of intel for entry level builds you get more bang for buck with AMD. Just get a decent MoBo and you will be fine that means no Foxcom or ASROC **** go MSI or ASUS AM3.

Hope this helps...

You do know ASROCK is an Asus board?

What you've listed CJ is fine, except that GFX card is ****, That's more of a HTPC card, not a gaming card.

Yup that they are but through experience I find spec and quality are not as good as the original ASUS branded.

ASRock is ASUS entry level from what I've heard. Built for general users. Get a Sapphire HD5750 Vapor-X Edition. Stays abunch cooler and overclocks alot better. Ordered one for myself, get it tommorow :D .

My friend on skype bought one about two weeks ago and successfully flashed the bios for a Sapphire HD5770 Vapor-X, only increasing temps by about 3 degrees Celsius. Not much of a frame rate increase, 5-10 fps.

A few really good AMD quads that are pretty cheap are the Athlon II x4 620/630/635. They have a locked multiplier so not great for overclocking. They all run at 95W. My 630 at stock everything runs 33-39oC desktop, depending on whats running, maxing at 51oC during gameplay(MW2, Burnout Paradise, SP:Conviction).
Steam?
Pissed about BF3 not having mod tools, also?

Hell nah man he ripping you off i'd give him 150Max for that bullshit. Most important thing about a computer is the processor thats an ok old quad core one, but no way near 450-500. On this link find your processor it shows how you will run arma 2.

http://www.behardware.com/articles/778- ... ssors.html

i got one better than that for 350. The phenom IIx4 920. Check out these deals in you won't get ripped off first one is in Canada.

AMD ATHLON II X3 425 HOME/OFFICE PC w/DDR3/NVIDIA 7025 - eBay (item 380215589629 end time Jun-13-10 09:35:19 PDT)

4delectronic items - Get great deals on PC Desktops, DVD -RW items on eBay.com!

cowboom items - Get great deals on PC Desktops, 2 GB or more items on eBay.com!

There you go get yourself one of those, save some money, and not get ripped off at all like i did. While still having one of the best computers that some dummies would pay 700 for.

Well CJ, i have the same card (Really need new one though) and can run PR on max settings. here are my other specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 910
8GB DDR3 of RAM
1 Terabyte HD
with the ATI Radeon HD 4350 with 512MB mem.

I can run PR on high, but everything else i need to run on low practically. I would really suggest getting a new GPU.
