BMP-3

Post by l3g3nda »

Hello!

I'm not very good driver, so don't use vehicles so much, but recently we take BMP-3, I was the driver and I have to say that this implementation is very bad. It suffer of oversteer (or whatever it sounds like for the caterpillars), it jumps like crazy rabbit on the small hummocks, it damages on the teeny pits.
I think it must be changed to be have more "weight" and less suffer of above.

Moar heavier, Less "Sliding" when it's turning. I found out in the .9 patch that they changed it.. and it sucks.

It would seem the Russians fill all their IFVs with helium.

I guess as a stopgap, using modified Bradley handling code might work..

Yeah it does oversteer a bit.

You know, the only weapon the BMP-3 needs is a stinger. Then it'll be able to counter anything =)
jk btw

I think you can request a AA kit from it.

Anyways; I don't think the handling is THAT bad. Sure, the sliding is annoying, but the oversteering is not a problem for me. And yes, you will get the vehicle damage indicator on small bumps, but I think it takes minimal damage.

I quite like it tbh, feels like driving a tracked vehicle not a wheeled one.

Though yeah alot of vehicles ingame suffer damage from little hills and things, its hard to prevent. However I guess the same fix for the technical could be appied elsewhere.

I think the Bradley has the completely opposite problem, it steers like a 68' Mustang. Which if you don't understand what I'm saying, it is that it understeers alot.

Going slower in the bradley lets it turn great, same with the BMP. The problem with the BMP is that it's on ice : D

In reality it's not very possible to turn hard at full speed without losing lots of speed. The Bradley is realistic in this aspect. If you want to turn hard very suddenly, dump throttle, turn, then throttle back up.

I do think that for the sake of gameplay though we should be able to turn harder, even if at full speed.
