PR+PRmumble = Lags
Today i tryed out PRmumble (v.0.5b) for the first time. But i couldnt even experience how it works ingame because always if i run PRmumble and connect to a server i have immense lags and shuttering. I dont know why this happens. I played with the "normal" 1.2.2 mubmle client before and got no performance problems. I lowered the quality to 1 and "audio per package" to 20 ms but it doesnt help. While searching my problem i found out that QWAVE sometimes causes problems. I tryed to deaktivate it but i didnt found the process so it seems to me that the process is deaktivated.

When looking for answers please follow these simple steps.
#1 : Read the red stickys First.
New PR problems are rare so most answers can be found here.
#2. Use the search feature on PRs web site or GOOGLE IT!.
Often the quickest way to find what your looking for when you have an error message.
#3. Please remember to include your basic PC info in your post
You have spent some time trying to help yourself without any luck, so your ready to ask for help:
Please include your basic PC info in your post :
Operating system = XP, Vista etc.
systems specks = cpu/speed, ram installed, video card/video ram on card, type of monitor
network setup = cable, 4 port 10/100/1000 d- link gamers lounge/ wired connection.
And a brief history before and after problem started.
Please describe when your CTD or problem hits and
what you have already tried.
The more info you can give the better your chance of getting a quick answer back.
You don't have to write a book,
but your basic PC info is needed to help you.
Good luck

Read the red stickys.
Check!
Use the search feature on PRs web site or GOOGLE IT!
Check!
Both no results.
System:
-Windows XP-Home Edition SP3
-DirectX 9.x
-Motherboard: Asus A8N5X
-CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+
-RAM: 2 GB DD(PC3200) 200MHz
-Network Adapter: ASUS 802.11g Netzwerkadapter
-Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 6600
-Sound Adapter 1: Realtek AC'97 Audio
-Sound Adapter 2: YAMAHA Native DS1-WDM-Treiber
Drivers up to date?
Check!
I tried both soundadapters for mumble but the result doesnt change. Huge shuttering and lags. On my last try i watched my CPU-Clock. It says for PRmumble(0.5beta).exe CPU between 02 and 10 % and RAM about 26.xxx K. But although i changed nothing but running PRMumble my overall CPU-Clock went from 10% without running PRMumble to 100% percent(in Task-Manager). I dont know why capacity utilisation wents to 100%. Normaly it should be about 20% for me (10% for Mumble and 10% for the background-applications). This shuttering only happens while running PRMumble(0.5beta) not with normal mumble 1.2.2 client. I got no idea why this happens.
I attached:
-HiJack Log (check.txt)
-Systemperformance while running PR and PRMumble(0.5beta)(PR+Mumble.jpg)
-Systemperformance while running PR without Mumble(PR without Mumble.jpg)
(red graph = CPU capacity utilisation in %; green graph = used Memory (RAM) in %; blue graph (only in PR+Mumble.jpg) = CPU usage of PRmumble(0.5beta) in %)

Re: PR+PRmumble = Lags
Thanks Rudd I tried every compatibility mode for running Mumble. No result.
Btw. I cant use it in compatibility mode for XP cuz I use XP.
My personal suspicion is one or more Null Pointer causing the CPU to be used to capacity but its just an idea. Im thankful for every hint helping me to run PRMumble.

You have a audio card:-Sound Adapter 2:
YAMAHA Native DS1-WDM-Treiber
Is the YAMAHA Native DS1-WDM-Treiber set up in Windows audio as your default audio controller?
Do you have the game audio set to 'hardware'?

Isn't that Yamaha sound adaptor an old thing for professional studio use?

Re: PR+PRmumble = Lags
At the moment YAMAHA Native DS1-WDM-Treiber is my default audio controller. And yes game audio is set to hardware. But if i change my defaul audio controller to Realtek AC'97 I still have this shuttering ingame.
Today i noticed that PR makes some cracking noise while running PRMumble when I set YAMAHA Native DS1-WDM-Treiber as my default audio controller. For example at the main menu I hear a cracking noise while the music plays. As soon as i deactivate my ingame audio the cracking stops. I dont have this cracking sounds while running normal Mumble with YAMAHA Native DS1-WDM-Treiber set as default audio controller or while running PRMumble with Realtek AC'97 set as default audio controller.
Im completly helpless how to fix the shuttering.
@PLODDITHANLEY: Dunno. I just bought the sound card to grab disk records. And the quality is awesome

Re: PR+PRmumble = Lags
Do you have the mumble overlay enabled? Could try disabling it, sometimes it just likes to disagree with your computer on how stuff should be drawn on the screen and causes shuttering.

Re: PR+PRmumble = Lags
Im not using the Overlay with PRMumble but with 1.2.2 and it works without any shuttering or lags. So thats not the problem IMO.
