PR Players Guide not working?
Is there a way to view the PR Players Guide? It says I cannot unless I'm an admin? None of the links I've found anywhere work... And I can't find anywhere to download the pdf version either?
Help would be super appreciated... Thanks.

The manual that Zrix posted is from 0.91

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

I have to agree with thatJonny wrote:Apparently the person updating the guide hasn't heard of bookmarks, so needs that button at the top of the forums. I have no idea how long its been like that, but its really quite ridiculous.

Wait, what? What's up with the guide now? Has there been an update I missed or is it just still not done?

Re: PR Players Guide not working?
It's nearing completion.... 2Slick4U has been the one working on it, and because of RL he has had to start and stop work on it.
Also its seen around 9 or 10 revisions since he keeps changing the framework for it to include new things, etc.
Yes, its an excessive time, but then again no one is paid for doing this work and the manual is fine for new players right now.

Re: PR Players Guide not working?
This is something I've wanted to say for a while. With all respect to the volunteer work that's going into the guide, I strongly believe that an alpha/beta version of it should be available while the work continues, if the guide has any useful info at all. The reason for this is, the manual is not entirely adequate material for new players who want to learn, as I've again witnessed in 0.9.
The manual is fine as far as explaining game mechanics goes. It doesn't help, though, with the many things that you actually see in game. I'm not saying every player needs detailed info like deviation and bullet drop tables for every weapon but some crucial info for new players is missing, mainly I'm thinking vehicles. Players need a list of vehicles per faction with screenshots, so they can recognize them in-game. Otherwise, they run into problems when playing on a Brit map and hearing references to Scimitars and Warriors, without being able to tell which is which. Or being unable to report a BTR because they don't know what it's called, so in the end these players only use the terms "tank" and "APC". Gets more complicated with less common vehicles or tools. Say, on a militia map, they hear about something called a "spandrel" that's ostensibly being used for anti-tank. The player has no idea what it looks like, what it needs, etc.
So really, as long as at least pictures of vehicles with basic descriptions are up, I'd strongly recommend opening the guide up for players to read while work continues. Disclaimer: this is written in full understanding that I have no clue about the current progress and status of the guide.

Re: PR Players Guide not working?
I agree with Solver. When I started playing PR a lot (.7, .75 -- I'd been around for .6 for like, a week, but only really started playing in the 7's) I initially, from the discussion I heard amongst my fellow squad members on Al Basrah, thought a Technical was something to repair bridges with
Ah, that said, if it's a Wiki (aka Wikimedia software) why aren't you letting a ton of people work on it? There are plenty of us out here with experience with wikis that would probably pitch in.

Agreed and thats the plan... obviously taking longer than normal but it will be releasing once its publicly consumable and its not just waiting for content to be added, but key system components still need be completed.

Ah, that's good to hear. Can you say if the new guide is also built on MediaWiki?

Can you also say the guide button at the top of the page will ever be more than a link to a login box?

Any word on this yet? I keep hoping to consult the guide for a few things but it's still not up...
