GIS+ Teamwork Event - Friday 28th May

Post by Robbi »

GIS+ Teamwork Event Invasion Night 28.5. 20:00 GMT+1

Image

Following the great success of our first GIS+ Teamwork Event we will host another Event on our lag-free server. Last time we focused on the cities of the PR-world, but this time you get to follow an Invasion.

The year is 2015 several Arab states have united to the MEC and kicked all foreign troops out of their territory. After putting so many ressources into the middle-east the USA and their allies wont have it and decide to take back the lost ground.

The US Marines Spearhead the assault with an attack on Muttrah docks (Muttrah Inf).
A week into the campaign the US Army runs into enemy armor in the Kashan Desert (Kashan 64)
But every meter they secured is again challenged by the Insurgency (West Fallujah)

After that we will have a look at different conflicts around the globe (request your favourite map)

This Event does not feature mumble, but you are welcome to join us on our TS3 server again

[GIS+] Teamspeak 3 Server
Ip:188.40.100.3
Port:9987
PW: prforever

We will again have a lot of people from various clans and communities on both sides ensuring a coordinated game. You should have no trouble joining a squad and of course you are free to lead your own squad.

See you there

We will have Mumble Events in the future but at the moment a lot of people from our and guestcommunities are still not able/willing to use mumble thats why we are gonna wait a bit with enforcing mumble.

I can't understand why people "still not willing" to use PR Mumble...

When I use mumble as a SqL I have 7 buttons for communication that can be confusing at times. As for a normal public player who is a SM he only has 2 buttons for communication.
There is no need for me to talk to the APC next to me over mumble if I can request him via commander or simply talk to him on TS in 2 or 3 channels.

I agree that Mumble is a nice "toy" but for our first events we are rather focusing on making even teams and setting up a coordinated match.

Mumble is not just a ''toy''
Mumble makes PR more realistic, 100% better teamwork.
If you see mumble as a ''toy'' you shouldnt even be allowed to use it...

with the buttons, thats why you are a SL
Noone is saying its easy to be a SL, its just two extra buttons you need to add for a 100% better gaming experience.

And the thing you are saying about the apc.. bullshit, that you will request it with the commander, he would have driven away already, its better if you can just shout, watch out enemy hat/lat right there, or can you cover us.

You should join TG in the evening, and be on mumble.
You'll see that mumble is way, WAY more then a toy.

pfuh.

But if you have the APC crew on a TS-hotkey why have a second program that provides the same service? If you are not using TS to that extend I see your point and i agree Mumble makes it more realistic but it also has its limitations

You have a TS hotkey, but you are very rarely the optimum source of local information. Lets say the APC is standing next to your squad and one of your squad members sees an enemy HAT in the distance and needs to warn the APC. Without mumble he would have to relay it to you, then you relay it to the AP-Boom, APC's dead. With mumble your squad member only has to say "HAT 255" and everything is solved.

Lets say you link up with another squad for a combined push. All of the squad members have instant communication with each other to locate and take out threats, whereas without it they'd end up relaying information through SLs, which is a waste and too slow, or not communicate at all, which is simply detrimental.

When communication is localized the power of compass bearings also increase immensely. If you know the position of the guy calling out the bearings, as you do with mumble, you instantly know what he's talking about, something you do not do with VOIP or TS.

Yes all of this is true for public PR games but as I said before a lot of people attending will be from PR communities and most
of those people have TS3 or normal mumble set up in such a way so it replaces mumble thats why they refuse to use it.

For events like this mumble is a benefit I AGREE thats why we are going to have mumble events, but for our normal events we are not willing to kick large parts of our and guestcommunities just for some mumble users sorry.

Being able to talk to the guy next to you is always invaluable. It opens up a plethora of structural options for squads and teams, and removes another barrier imposed by the game. It's true for any game.

True, but Mumble isnt the only software that provides this service.

If we could get BACK ON TOPIC as said in the original post you are able to request your favourite map that will be played after Fallujah West.

YouTube - Mumble vs. TS2, Ventrilo - Transmission Delay (Latency)

my 2 cents .

But, I have to admit, I am a mumble user and never used TS, thus I favour mumble more
