BTR vs APC

I been wondering... When I am driving a BTR and shooting an APC, the APC always kill me...

When I drive an APC and meet a BTR, I also die! What the hell is going on?

I shoot the wheels all the time. Is there like a special way to make more damage or something that I do not know?

People say to shoot the back... But it is unlikely that I can be behind them all the time. What is the best way to kill each other when we see face to face?

Surviving in those vehicles is all about manoeuvring and positioning (and a bit of luck). Get in a better position and the opponent will have a smaller chance of winning.

Burst with the 25mm and use APFSDS-T in LAV25/LAV3/BTR80A and aim at the engine or the back. In BTR60 empty you're clip into the same place said before.

Its not complicated... just use the right type of ammo and make sure you dont overheat you're barrel.

my way is to not leave the engagement up to chance, always have a friendly TOW to run away to or a Frendly infantry AT squad with you at all times.

then that lonewolf vehicle trying to kill you is gonna go "OMFG I GOT SO PWNED ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY"

when its directly face to face shoot the turret, when a little aside, shoot the tires, and the armor behind it, but most preferably hit the back door.

theres a lot of luck in that fight since both are pretty equal

i always try avoiding other apcs, since the apc is a transport/inf/ifv hunter vehicle. when i do have to face an apc i try to initiate on him (preferably the back), if thats not possible, bait him to some at assets (hat, tow, even a lat will do the job). when we have both hit each other and i cant be 100% sure that i did a lot more dmg than him (thats like 1/50), i always fall back, cause its not worth risking an apc, because its not the responsibility of an apc to hunt other apcs. (thats what a lot of people have to learn....)

The BTR-60 having the smallest cannon caliber ingame, its at a disadvantage in both armor and firepower against the LAV-25 and M2A2. Like before, get a advantage, travel in numbers, and burst fire in areas weakest, usually the doors.

Foxxy I think you messed up because 1 LAV can beat a single BTR, takes two or superior tactics/manuevering to kill a LAV

on muttrah a while back now i was sat on a Milan and the BTR was gonig toe to toe with an LAV, over mumble i told him where i was and he drove straight past me, ofc the LAV followed and got wasted.


with the BTR in a one on one fight you have to keep moving and hope to flank, I can't remember who my driver was (might have been Cougar) but we were up against 2 LAVs, one was already damaged and was taken out within the first seconds of the engagement. Afterwards we retreated and then flanked the other, coming up behind it and tracked it. Again we moved and then came in for the final assault and took it out.

Ofc there was a bit of luck here as we managed to track the LAV but even if we hadn't we still just ran 'rings around' it.


sitting there and exchanging rounds is not the way to win armour engagements unless you know you have a distinct advantage (M2A2 vs BRDM)

If you have an experienced crew, 1 Btr can usually take down a Lav. Btr's, as most people dont notice, are faster than Lav's and more manuverable, if you get into a turning fight with a lav you could easily get behind them.

PS if you run out of ammo, you can always ram the Lav. lol.

im not sure about the coax. The thing about Lav's vs. Btr's is that the BTR has stronger armor, but the Lav has a stronger gun, BTR has weaker gun, but LAV has weaker armor. When im in a BTR i usually shoot both my main gun & the coax. at the Lav's. I dont really know if it helps, but people say it does do some damage.

coax doesn't damage BTRs afaik, BDRMs sure, but not BTRs. not sure about 50cals.

I once shot a BTR-60 on local server with a M2, it took about 1000 rounds on wheels to blew it but it was PR 0.85 or 0.86. Some damages/materials may have change.

If the Bradley at any point can't take 14.5mm AP to front, sides, or rear, then they are doin' it rong because it can take 14.5mm all around, and 30mm frontally, and with armor upgrades I think it can take 30mm APDS all around, basically invalidating any power the 2A42 and 2A72 would have, in theory.

In theory the LAV-25 can take 14.5mm AP all around too.

At Mutrah City, flank them from behind (be sure you don't meet any TOWs on the way) and do hit and run attacks, Another way is to move with the BTRs as a group, as the MEC got lots of them. But I still prefer the BTR, because you don't need to change your type of ammo, and it seems to drive better than a LAV.

BTR-80A --> LAV = Chinese APC? -> BTR 80 -> BTR 60 -> Stryker (Cant even swim lolol) -> M113 -> Humvee (just to emphasize how fail m113 is).

That is usually balanced with numbers, such as more BTRs on Muttrah than LAVs.
