EAX and ultra high sounds

Post by ganja420 »

This thread made me remember something ive always wondered about, and always forgot to ask.
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f360-g ... ost1353263

I also think i saw this in the installation guide or something "remember to turn on EAX in bf2"
I have eax ticked off in sound settings, but the setting for ultra high is red. How come?
i also have an option for creative x-fi instead of software, but i get a message saying my hardware doenst support this. im using a creative x-fi 5.1 external soundcard.
Thanks for any help in advance.

btw. searched the forums for this but only found this one, and it was unanswered.

Afaik, to have Ultra High enabled, you must have X-Fi cards such as XtremeMusic or XtremeGamer series.

Some cards are not real X-Fi (meaning they don't have X-Fi chip). X-Fi is also a brand name so they use it to name older tech cards too.

If you have the Creative xtremegamer, it does not actually have the xfi chip in it. This is why it may not work.

xtremegamer indeed has the chip, xtremeaudio does not.
