Windows 7- Latest PR (v0.91)
Using Windows 7 32 bit
BF2 is at v1.5
set PR and BF2 to run as administrator
PROBLEM:
I click the icon to start, the splash shows up, and then the screen goes black, in a similiar way to vanilla BF2. After approx 5 secs, it just goes straight back to desktop, rather than showing any videos or loading.
My sys specs are way beyond the requirements so its not that.
UPDATE: I think it's a problem with the 1.5 patch- because BF2 doesnt work either after i installed the patch

1) Run game in a window.
2) Check error message on CTD.
3) Post error here or google it.
4) Fix error.
5) Profit.

Re: Windows 7- Latest PR (v0.91)
A) Did it work before?
B) Did you install anything else, or plugin anything else after you installed .91?
C) New Graphics/Sound cards?
D) Did you mess with the Settings folder?

Shouldn't this belong to the technical support subforum?

Re: Windows 7- Latest PR (v0.91)
No error message
Same for normal BF2 v1.5
reinstalled and reverted to v1.41 and it works, but can't do PR.
I will try and install v1.5 and see what happens

Re: Windows 7- Latest PR (v0.91)
Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.
If you still have trouble run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files
Still no joy?
Delete the original BF2 folder from your documents folder.
Some other things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder.
Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your new PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back
is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001

Try turning off dynamic lighting

-> VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 0 or 1
-> VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 0 or 1
Honestly though, with all the BF2 startup crashes I've dealt with in the years, this has never been the solution. Best of luck though, I know how frustrating it can be

I had this same exact problem then I tried turning my firewall off then it worked. Try doing that.
