were there actually any bad ones?
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.

Flight of the Intruder, altho a view of the war from the air it really gives insight into the politics as well as the battles.

Bat 21, even tho the story has been remade I still like Gene Hackmans portrayal.

Not sure if it qualifies as a "war" movie, but Oliver Stone's Heaven and Earth gives insight into the toll the war took on civilian life. He is a great director, and if you enjoyed his previous 2 glimpses into the Vietnam war I'd recommend taking time to look into this one.

I'd also like to suggest Tiger Land, which again is not directly about the Vietnam war, instead it takes place during basic training. It showcases the loss of humanity war brings, even before you encounter the enemy.

Also if you have not seen Green Beret do yourself a favor and get your hands on a copy!

Horrible Vietnam Movie: The Losers (1970). Bikers sent to Vietnam to rescue POWs. There is a new movie called "The Losers" which is not related to the 70s film of the same title (I like the new one quite a bit).

They decide instead of sending the Green Berets they send biker's obviously a government conspiracy.

Hello........

I'm a big Vietnam War dude. Do u know any good movies about the war. I have already seen Platoon.
Full Metal Jacket is one of the better more realistic Vietnam movies. It is definitely the most accurate movie I have ever seen regarding boot camp. Drill Instructor Hartman is played by R. Lee Ermey (History Channels Mail-Call) who was in fact, a real Marine Drill Sergeant during the Vietnam conflict. Watching the first 15 minutes of this movie will bring back old boot camp memories for any Veteran. About the first hour of the movie deals with a group of guys going through Marine Corps boot Camp on Paris Island, South Carolina, 1968. The morality of war...? The meaningless loss of life in war... and so on and so fourth. It's definitely not a movie that the Marine Corps would hand out to potential recruits. I'd recommend this movie to anyone who has been in the military or enjoys military type flicks.

We Were Soldiers (2002)
We Were Soldiers was horrible. It felt a lot like Braveheart (same insane director) but not nearly as good.

When I saw it in theatres I could stop laughing at the final charge at the end of the movie. Like they'd really charge directly at the enemy in a large group in the second half of the 20th century without being massacred (of course they were saved by helicopters at the last second). I think that Mel Gibson basically thought it looked cool therefore it made it onto film without any real semblance of historical accuracy or, erm, realism.

My favourites:

Platoon
Full Metal Jacket
Apocalypse Now
Tigerland
...and a few others that will come to me later.
