Return wavy dying effect

Post by Redamare »

looking back at older versions of PR before the red bloody death screen and blackout effect.. there was only a wavy effect simulating you are passing out and such.. it worked for the time but was replaced by the new system.

for people who are unawair of what i am talking about ... think back at BF2 Special forces.. the gass canasters that explode in a cloud and when you get hit your screen getss all wavy and you cant see where you are going...

SO... My main suggestion is bring back the wavy screen for the last couple seconds of "living" before you die. like 30 . 20 seconds or so .. ontop of the black out screen..

YES i know that you can already not see the blurred vision of the black out screen but this will REALY simulate you are about to die... Adding "Disorentation" and confusion. opposed you your eyes just Quit working because you lost so much blood.

OR if possible instead of having the full out wavy effect SLow down the animations speed so that its not as quick and its more of a distortion of the screen a bit. ontop of the black out screen ofcourse.

Being all disorentated it would give more players a reason to *LAY DOWN* instead of running around looking for a medic have the medics REALY have to work their job seeking out injured players and healing them back to health. But keep in mind the effect shouldnt come into play untill the Much later versions of the dying process..

This effect can also simulate.,,, "OKay ive reached the final stage of the process i might want to inform some one to Hurry and help me." instead of ...
"Okay im black and white now ... im giong to keep on walking untill i die."

The wavy effect could also possibly be placed over the already DEAD persons sreen when it says you have been wounded bla blah blllaahh and as you are waiting for a medic you have a slight dizzyness ... and the longer you wait the worse the dizzyness gets untill the .. 5 minutes or so is over when you automaticaly become Dead Dead (if you havnt already givenup)

Sorry for such a long discription just wanted to get my ideas across..

What do you think?

i dont see how it would make much of a difrence as you can practcily see nothing while black and white the wavyness wont add much just give ppl ceasers

ceasers
wouldn't mind a salad myself actually..

I don't see what this adds tbh, though maybe it could be used again for disorientation effects, but then again the standard suppression effect is good enough for that.

I think I remember hearing the DEVs took out the wavyness because too many people were figuring out how to mess with the game files and disable it somehow. I could be wrong about this but I think thats why it was removed.

.. i DO seem to remember that fact ... but if this is implimented you would still be black and white and blurry either way. even if you DO disable the wavy effect

Im not so sure about that one but when i had to play PR on my crappy system back in .7 I think, I had no black and white effect or supression on super low gfx setting this was just after thay canned the wavy screen.

Having this sort of effect significantly slowed down and applied much earlier (starting at 60-50% health?) would create higher disorientation for any hit. The slow wave effect would disorient them enough to make firing back accurately difficult; any solid hit would mean they're ineffective until they get a medic.

But that would all depend on what the deal is with it being able to be removed.

i thought they used this effect and made it to the suppression effect which is now shown when bullets hit around you.

No, that one's the suppression effect made for PR. The wavy effects are from BF2:SF, iirc, from the gas canisters.

Here's a demonstration of it:

Yeah. Here's a clip of it in PR. (Yes, I meant to link it.)

The effect is very disorienting. Slowing it down drastically so that it isn't so cheesy and doesn't effect you that badly would allow you to start the effect earlier and let them have the effect very minimally if they take any damage at all, meaning that anyone who lands a shot is rewarded with effectively taking one out of the battle until he gets patched up.

10+ demonstration from both of you except chelestia who just copied off youtube ;) haha jk but yea thats the basic just ....but as we were saying there would have to be some sort of coding to DISABLE people from simply Deleteing the wavy effect file .... -_- it would be a nice addition but that is one major kink that would have to be worked out .. people who cant play the game the way it is and "HACK" to have an advantage

your idea would just eat even more performance as the black and white effect does now.
i want the old SF screen back and if its possible the old (dont know how the looked like anymore) or reworked suppression effects cause those effects we have now just need freakin much performance

dunno if its just my "problem", but i can get rid of the black-white-death-screen with lowering my graphic settings...
