PR Errors

Post by kaszas2000 »

Hi! I have some issues with PR, that I need help with.

On some maps, trees, walls, and similar objects dissapear. So I don't see some walls, trees when they are about 30m away, cars, etc. This happens on some of the maps only. For example Mashuur city ( or what :-) )works fine without any problems.

The second is that after a while (random time) PR just exits to desktop (no matter what map or server I'm currently on) without any error messages. Just closes...

I can't seem to find a solution for these problems. Sorry, if there is already someone who had the same error and posted it, but I couldn't find these kind of problems nowhere.
Can someone help?

My system:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 2.33 Ghz cpu
2Gb ddr2 800mhz ram
Ati 5770 1Gb video card
Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit
BF2 1.5, Project Reality 0.91

Make sure all your drivers are up to date (had to say it)

If you still have trouble run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files

Still no joy?

Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.

Still see strange things?
Try lowering 'textures'
That dog still walking funny?
OK
Some other things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder. Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001
Good luck

Thanks very much, I'll try them! :D

EDIT: Tried the Battlefield cleaner, everything is now visible, no visibility glitches, except for one small building on one of the maps, but it's OK! I'll do all of these steps, hope it'll fix it totally :) Thanks for your help!
