Separate kits for jet and helo pilots?
I know it wouldnt be high up the DEV's list of priorities and it would probably add little to the game however, I thought as Helicopter and Jet pilots IRL have very different training (I assume anyway) and equipment why not change the kits a bit separately to represent this? like have a helo pilot kit and a jet pilot kit the helo pilot kit wouldn't have a parachute for example but could be equipped with a side arm with a small amount of ammo? Whereas the jet pilot wouldnt have a sidearm but would have a parachute etc. Also the helo pilot kit wouldnt have the breathing apparatus like the jet pilot kit would have... Sorry if the idea is hazy I havent exactly finished it in my head but I hope you guys get the jist

I think it is a pretty cool idea
but as you mentioned, it might not be a priority
Maybe in .999 lol

I like that, FINALLY helo pilots will be able to defend themselves without any exploiting...
BTW is the parachute re-armable in Silent Eagle for the airborne kits?

Re: Separate kits for jet and helo pilots?
What difference would it make? Aesthetic at the least, a needless addition at the most...I thought as Helicopter and Jet pilots IRL have very different training (I assume anyway) and equipment why not change the kits a bit separately to represent this?
What is stopping me from getting a heli kit and running around pistolling people?like have a helo pilot kit and a jet pilot kit the helo pilot kit wouldn't have a parachute for example but could be equipped with a side arm with a small amount of ammo?
What difference would a breathing apparatus make to gameplay? How would it be codeable? What purpose does it serve? Is it currently unrealistic not having it at the moment? Why not code in the ability for it to be removed so I can get asphyxiated when flying a jet?Whereas the jet pilot wouldnt have a sidearm but would have a parachute etc. Also the helo pilot kit wouldnt have the breathing apparatus like the jet pilot kit would have... Sorry if the idea is hazy I havent exactly finished it in my head but I hope you guys get the jist
Hell, you said it yourself. But I'll add: Its a terrible idea, it would serve almost no benefit to gameplay mechanics, and effort can be spend on other things, such as modeling, coding, and map making.SGT_Griggs wrote:I know it wouldnt be high up the DEV's list of priorities and it would probably add little to the game however

Re: Separate kits for jet and helo pilots?
I like the idea of separate kits, but the idea of arming pilots has been discussed and shot down each time (pun slightly intended). And why wouldn't the helicopter pilot have a parachute? In real life, most combat heli's can survive low altitude crashes, true. But with the BF2 engine, just touch the ground and KABOOM. Both pilots would need a parachute in PR.
With that said, it's a good suggestion, but the changes wouldn't be drastic enough to have a reason for making an entirely new kit.

Re: Separate kits for jet and helo pilots?
As it stands now even separating the pilot and helo kits will not be getting a weapon.
The reasons have been discussed time and time again. We want that kit or (kits) to be non combat affective unless in a air asset. Its that simple. The times in game we've come across a downed pilot and all they could do is surrender or hide makes it worth it.
