Hey all, I used to play PR on all high with zero problems, then my HD failed and I've now got a HD twice the size, all other hardware is identical.
so I have 4GB RAM, a GTX275 nvidia card, 1TB HD, 2.8 quad core CPU etc
now I'm getting memory errors and crashes galor unless I shove all settings down to Low/medium.
Is there an easy way to check if my RAM is failing?
I've downloaded the BF2.iso so that I can reinstall bf2 more conventionally since I have the EA downloader version atm - to see if thats the problem. But I'd rather save myself the effort or another reinstall if its my hardware rather than software causing the problem.
Cheers
Is there a way to check for bad RAM?

Memtest. Burn a bootable CD and run it for a few cycles. I've had plenty of troubles with crucial ballistix.

Or if you are in Vista or Win7, type "Memory" in the start search box and you should get a result of "Memory Diagnostics" simply click on that, it will ask you to reboot and you should then boot into Memtest (or an equivalent of,) saving you a disc

Prime95,select the blend test.Should not take too long to fail/error out/reboot (if it's bad).
For memtest (program) use the test number 5 and if it passes about 10 times,it's probably good.

cheers lads, turns out it wasn't bad RAM at all. For some reason the EA Downloader version of BF2 was just buggering up, got the exe of the disk version now and all is well.
back on highest settings with no crashes, so I'm a happy bunny.
