Re: PR Crash
First sell the 32bit O/S! You should be running a 64bit O/S to use all the ram you have.
Run PR in 'windowed' mode
If you still have problems
run PR in 'windowed' mode to see if any error messages come up
(instead of running in full screen, it runs in a 'window')
To do so
Right click on shortcut.
Choose properties from bottom of list.
Modify the text in your shortcut's 'target' window.
("C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start +fullscreen 1)
Change
+fullscreen 1
to
+fullscreen 0
Should look like this in Vista ( XP lose the (x86) ):
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start +fullscreen o
Then Google or use 'search' on Project Reality web page for the error message you get next time you crash..
If you still have trouble run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files
Still no joy?
Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.
Still CTD?
OK
Some other things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder. Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001
Good luck

Re: PR Crash
I've tried everything on the list apart from taking it out of fullscreen and re-install. I can't play with it out of fullscreen because the window is off-centre so i can only see the top left section of the game. Any more help would be much appreciated, I'm pretty much about to re-install but not very hopeful as from looking at vBF2 threads it doesn't seem to have helped many people.
I have 2GB RAM with vista which could be the issue but it still happens with settings on full low, is there any way of establishing this as a definite cause because i have played PR on and off for a year and never had this problem before and it has just started a week into me playing again.
Lastly it seems (not very sure about this) to occur more on a specific server than others so could have something to do with connection?
Thank you in advance for any help.
